CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

Its not about wanting him out, it's about a replacement as he's flirting with leaving.

Martinez wouldn't get us relegated. He's got his head screwed on and knows of the kind of club were are with tight finances. It's also a step up for him to prove himself.

But what he also has is a stubbornness that's more positive than Moyes' pragmatism.

Moyes would turn up at OT/Anfield etc set up not to lose. Martinez goes in 3 at the back wanting to win to his detriment

But it is about wanting him out, as there's been plenty who've been critical of his reign & have called for him to leave, irrespective of his contract situation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain that you're one who has expressed that view

So my question was simple, given the choice would you take Martinez over Moyes?

Moyes wont go. No one is giving him a better job than Everton on that salary. Kenwright will get all his contacts in the media to declare Moyes a legend, he'll have his ego stroked as the saviour of the club, and he'll sign for another three years.

So what's he waiting for then, smartarse ?

For all Moyes' greatness he's got us so far. We cant push on due finances.

So what do we want in a manager to replace him if "the great one" can't succeed?

All I can think of is more of a risk taker who is forward thinking.

Not so sure now it's got this far tbh. Even if he does stay I'd be surprised if it was anything other than a 12 month rolling deal.

Moyes has put himself into a difficult position with his statement (re-signing now will make it look like he's doing everyone a massive favour and create bad blood). However, it's not like he's gone on record saying he wants to find a better alternative.

If Moyes does sign up again you know it'll be on the basis of having secured nothing or very little by way of resources for the team. He's boxed himself into a corner and the only way he re-signs will be by having another 500 grand on top of his wages and eating a large slice of humble pie.

If the Martinez project went very bad for us who would you blame?

When have I actively wanted him out? I've criticised him which has been deserved. But if hes holding us at arms length looking for pastures new, then I won't shed a tear if he goes. He clearly can't go further with us without backing that hes not going to get.

All the point scoring etc is solely down to backing up an argument for his replacement. We could all just sit back and praise Moyes' positives but fundamentally you may have to accept he won't be here in the summer. All that hes done and offers gets thrown out the window.

After his statement, I'm now starting to believe that his mind is made up & he's going to take his chances elsewhere.

He's not said as much, as that would totally de-stabilise the team, so he's left it hanging, as if their performances & maybe a Cup win, could impact on his decision. When in fact it'll make no difference.

I think there is very little doubt that David Moyes is waiting to see what offers he receives during the summer, that is if he already hasn't reached an agreement with a new club.

This waiting until the end of the season is a load of bull. A single top four finish will not dramatically alter the clubs finances. We all know that money is tight and that only players leaving will mean a transfer budget for the manager. We all know that if at all possible Heitinga will be sold on and that in all probability Fellaini will move as well. The only real uncertainty is Baines and that is the one and only situation imo that may depend on where we finish.

David Moyes better than most managers what the summer will bring for him if he stays and therefore if he really intended staying the contract issue could be put to bed now.
I think we all also accept that he was at least interested in the Spurs job last summer but wasn't considered.
I can understand why he would leave and I thank for all that he has done for our club, but a little honesty wouldn't go astray.

I'd have Martinez over Moyes every day of the week the only reason I ever hear for keeping Moyes is fear - fed up with it after nearly 11 years.

Can't live your life frightened of your own shadow.

has any other high profile manager let their contact run out just so they can go to another club??

martin o neil and ferguson have had rolling 1 year deals for a while, but the problem moyes would of had is in previous seasons if any other teams were interested in him they would of had to pay off his contract even with 2 years left your looking at over 5m in compensation to land him.

If he cant find another club I think he will sign a short term rolling contract here

I do honestly think we could finish higher and play better football with a different manager, Martinez maybe.

Problem is I have no evidence to back this statement up but I do think that our results away at the big clubs speak for themselves, those are the results that are keeping us back from Europe at the the moment.

If we can somehow turn that around in the coming months i.e beating Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea with Moyes then that could change our fortune as we'll be higher up.
I'm rambling.
