CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

Oh and about the clubs not on that list:

Reading obviously aren't making much of an effort to stay in the Premiership.

Fulham would likely have spent money if Dembele and Dempsey had gone off earlier. Hell, they even nicked Andy Johnson off us a few years back. (for a fee of over £10m I might add)

Norwich and Wigan are in danger of relegation.

Stoke haven't made any marquee signings this past summer but they have spent £70m in the last four years, almost none of which have been funded by outgoing transfers.

I don't think anything needs to be said about QPR and Newcastle with their January spending sprees.

Swansea and West Brom maybe best comparison to us, Swansea have been in the prem 2 years and West Brom sem to be finally stabilising with their 3d year in the top flight after a decade of yo-yoing. They're both below us currently btw.

Zirc.
Look at the list you presented, how many of those have proven value for money?
Spending large amounts of money can be seen as a sign of ambition or a sign of stupidity.

We got David Moyes from Preston when we had an awful team with an awful manager and it turned out rosey.

Now we have a very good team with a very good manager on an exceptionally good wage and people think we'll end up with Alan Curbishley's GP.

i like poyet too, fantastic player (especially against us the ****), another who's a young promising manager is solskjaer, but i doubt bill has the capability to look further than england

Money talks but having a bit of it (which hes had) along with good youth (which hes sort of had) and abit of luck and managerial nouse should have brought more success than it has.
Why should it? Those things don't help the other teams with no money or even many of the teams with some money.

Also ... a bit of luck?!?!?!?!? What part of watching Everton over the last 25 years made you think this is an option?

I've always backed him from the start. But I dont see him taking the next step
I don't see him (or anyone else) taking the next step. Why? Because nobody has ever taken "the next step" without spending over ten times what we spend. There is literally no team in English football to look up to as a role model to succeed without money. The sad thing about the state of the game? If you have very little money ... *we* are the team to look up to. We've done the best. It's possible that there is no next step for us.

Exactly this.

The expectation has been created by Moyes & now we have a proportion of fanbase expecting us to win at Old Trafford, whilst operating on a budget smaller than Fulhams.

Surely its all not going to get left till the very last minute and the summer turns into another Complete utter shambles which then takes us into the following new season With The board waiting, ready to hide behind the excuse that moyes just upped and and left not our fault" again , Strategy and plan must now being put in place. Bill must or will know (had moyes`s word) long before the media and fans will know if its a "That it then davey" .. if not and it all gets kept in the dark till the last second then the club and fans have been took the piss out of again by all concerned

That's not the point though is it? Spending money doesn't make you good automatically, just look at the Rs. But there's a limit to how far you can go if you can't spend any.

Maybe if Moyes were to get £20-25m to spend every year he'd piss it up the wall. But we'll never know, will we?

Nigel Adkins, free dose well on a small budget and now has PL experience and he's free...did I mention he free.

I think the worry over moyes leaving this summer speaks volumes for the lack of faith we have in the board. Which tells you everything we need to know about them really.

Moyes has been Bill,s shield for the last 11 years so I personally wonder if Bill has the stomach anymore for a new manager hire that could go bad on him. Let,s be honest, the only plan this board has this summer is to sell players to provide another kitty for this or the next manager because they won,t sink a penny into the club. I think Bill will let this ride as long at it needs too in the hope that Moyes will sign even a short term contract.

Personally, the owners should use the rest of the season to get a deal done to the sell the club and hope that a new owner will provide moyes and the team with the money they need to compete with the top 4, next season.

Moyes may not be the worlds greatest manager but to Bill he is because he keeps the mob from the front door.

Agree,, if moyes goes i`d like to think the chances of that will increase , but i can just see and hear another load of excuses from the board using it as another excuse for failings , with PR going into overdrive and it all being the exiting moyes fault why no players or time for a proper Managers appointment was brought in etc

Throwing a name into the possible replacements ring, Gus Poyet.

Doing well with Brighton and as a very good ex-prem player he'd command the respect of the lads. He's doing very well at Brighton, and he seems like a good chap whenever I've seen him interviewed. He's also Uruguayan.

If we're going to sign a manager from the Championship which seems likely, I'd like it to be him.

Would prefer Di Canio or Eddie Howe. All good managers though

It’s sad the way we can predict the absolutely pathetic excuses that will be used by the board, months in advance of the excuses being made. There was actually a thread on here which predicted the excuses that were used this January, before the transfer window had even begun.

Although failing to sign a player who has just passed his medical due to fears that he might get injured in the future, is a new one for everyone.
