Confirmed: Everton Sign Jordan Pickford

England will have to win this championship without conceding another goal just for the sake of pickford. If we get knocked out then obviously the vultures will be circling over pickford on here. Just for clarity...all keepers let goals in and there is not one keeper that has never conceded a goal and this applies to Pickford also so lets not get on his back and analyse each goal he lets in with hindsight saying he should have been 2 yds further off his line, he didn't move his feet, etc etc. Give the lad a chance. He hasn't played a game for us yet and the knives are out. Evertonians that.

Too late. You saw the one goal he's conceded in this tournament, people desperately scrambling for reasons to blame him despite it not being his fault. "A tall keeper would of saved dat". Yeah ok. Put 6ft 5 Stekelenburg there instead then and see what happens.

We've bought a decent PL goalkeeper, which would cost about £15-20 mill and is probably about right for a team finishing 7th. What we've paid for is a decent PL GK with the potential to be our GK for the next 10 years and Englands No1 too for most of that time, about right for a team with top 4 ambitions. An astute signing not only for the quality and potential of Pickford but for the message it sends about our ambitions to other potential signings.

He is a level above anything we've had since Nigel Martyn already, he could go on to be a great.

Agreed. In a few years time we will be looking at this signing and thanking our lucky stars we got him when we did.

People need to look past the fee and see a young lad who will need time. We paid 30 mil for the player he will become not the player he is now. With extortionate fees the way they are going, paying 30 mil for a keeper who could potentially play 10+ years for us could be sensible business

We needed an improvement in goal,we went and bought possibly the best young keeper in the country, keepers can earn an extra12/15 points a season,he could well be here for the next 10/12 years so rather than spend £8m every three years we spent it iin one go,you can garuntee if he had moved elsewhere there would be people moaning we missed out

Also he was obvioulsy the young keeper we wanted, out of the likes of Butland, Foster, Schmeichel etc.

The " old " Everton would've offered stupid money, messed around, dithered and potentially lost him to another club.

We went in with a low offer, got knocked back, then straight back in with the right amount, no messing around.

Imagine how many heads would fall off , if we'd have signed Southall from Bury today for the equivalent of 35 k !

Pickford isn't the finished article, just like big Nev wasn't when we bought him.

But he will be in the very near future.

Id have liked Butland mate,we missed out there a few years back,Arse supposedly interested in him now and I think he will cost more than Pickford, the rest tou mentioned I would be pretty much meh about, but £30m isnt much these days we paid that for Bolasie the rs have just paid more for Salah, neither will earn many more points than a good keeper,to me it was a no brainer to get him in no fapping about, pay the price and have him for pre season training

Some people concentrating on a few dodgy moments from the young player, but for me the most important thing about this buy isnt the player or the fee, its the fact we went out identified a number one target for the window and went bang all in and got him no messing about. Shows a new era for Everton has started this summer, ok we have stalled a bit now on Sandro but thats ok, this is football!!
