Do we think we can see some comparisons with De Gea here? Relatively young, bought for a huge fee and coming into a big(-ger) team as directly first choice keeper? I recall a lot of pressure and snap judgments on De Gea, but hoping we don't fall victim to the same.

Ultimately De Gea became world class so the first-season nerves are long forgotten, but not all newbies can be so lucky.

Not really fair comparison, De Gea was brand new to the Prem, Pickford already has a seasons experience under his belt and probably saw more action than any other keeper thanks to Sunderlands abysmal performances so I'd say he's got a better chance of doing great in his first season for us than De Gea for his first season at UTD

Fair point, true, I think he's definitely in a more advantageous position since he has EPL experience, but essentially he is a huge cornerstone to the redevelopment of our squad. Only player to have more pressure on him to perform will be Rom's replacement. All these stats about "most expensive English keeper" & "3rd expensive globally" will still factor in.

I don't think the pressure will phase him, he is after all coming from a relegated team where pressure was on him every single match to perform to his best in order to help keep the club up which he did pretty well, never saw him bottling it at any game while his teammates faltered

Delighted with this. Hopefully people keep off his back when he makes a mistake or two and let him develop.

The expectations and attention because of his fee might take some getting used to. He came into the Sunderland side with his own manager very publicly saying it was not ideal and he'd sooner have someone else in net. He now comes in with a record fee and a reputation as a gifted young keeper.

Maintaining concentration might be a change as well as he's going to have much longer spells with not much to do than last season where Sunderland were getting battered a lot of the time.

Sandro will make or break you, but either way, we both know it was a guess.

Its amazing how you are so confident to know that to someone you have never met. Im a little tired of having to justify myself mate, so sorry for previous post.
By the way, i was told klassen was going to take longer than we were thinking and look how my info was wrong with that
