We've needed a proper #1 for about 5 years. Great signing.

People going on about the fee being too high... He could be our Keeper for 10 years conceivably. A position we won't need to replace in that time, hopefully.

The alternative is a journeyman like Hart or Begovic that would likely cost at least 10m-15m and be a good stop gap for 2/3 years max, before another replacement would need to be bought. By which time, inflation would be higher and we'd buy another 2/3 years stop gap for 15m-20m.

I saw a lot of him last season and was very impressed. Not just his reactions and reflexes (The tip onto the bar against Arsenal was world class) but his command of defenders and distribution is top notch. He was a one man barrier in many games last year. I'm very happy with this for starters.

Young and homegrown with great potential, he still has plenty of room to grow as a goalie.
Hopefully he'll be a regular not just at Everton but at the national team too.
