Destiny single player Story review

Vanilla Destiny

Stories are still terrible. they have updated them so it only puts you on the linear ones, with the other random ones added as optional extra ones. But generally no story hardly and no explaination to anything.

The Dark below

Poor, only a few, short and whole thing is gearing up for the raid which would be good with more content than what they gave.

The house of wolves

Better, makes more sense and end goal of the little story is good. Largely recycled content they cut previously though.

the taken king

Really good. Bungie show what made them such high profile to begin with, story missions plentiful, well designed and the ending level was fantastic, really felt like a mini single player campaign.

Rise of iron

not bad, nothing as good as TTK but still quite fun to play and last mission again halo esq in the way they make it.

so overall the destiny single player mode.

Flashes of real brilliance, took them time to realise that they were allowed to be creative. If Bungie can take the taken king quality into destiny 2 and make a real story campaign then it could well turn out be the suprise hit of the year.

Well the HTC Vive arrived, it says in the box only takes 28mins to set up. Well that's if you have decent walls that a 18v drill can get in to. Took me a few hours and a lot of mess and moaning to get the base stations wall mounted, they're still not on great ended up filling with no more nails and then taping over it(walls are bare pre decorating).

Got everything set up and the headset fit great is easily adjustable but the wires are a bit of a pain, especially when stood up. The worry about glasses wasn't necessary @Armel my set worked fine with two sets of glasses of different sizes so it's good to go.

To say it's an experience is putting it mildly it's absolutely great the spacial element is wonderful I was pleased at how good it was, I didn't know what I was expecting.

Onto Project cars, I do like racing games but don't play as often as I should as soon as I was in the cockpit of my Kart I wanted a steering wheel straight away, holding a gamepad just doesn't feel right with what you are watching on screen.

Finally Elite : Dangerous the game I wanted head tracking for and ended up with VR and OMG what a difference it makes, I can see my whole cockpit, I look behind and my seat is there. I have full tracking when dogfighting, so much easier when you know where the other guy is. Just need to set up my voice attack now and Elite is rigged up.

All in all 9/10 dropped a point for the wires being a pain.

Thank you for the good review !

When I tried an Oculus DK2 with Elite two years ago, the thing that really stood out for me was the sense of scale. Previously the Viper had felt very very small. All of the sudden you realise you are in the Viper, which is 30m long, and the ship is HUGE! And it is one of the smaller ones!!!!

And just to help out with scale a bit, several people had mined the asset files, pulled the 3D models and made size comparison vids:

Spot on.

That's why I was encouraged at first when I saw the launch trailer - I thought they'd come up with a really unique product that would capture imaginations, that didn't rely on hardware power so they could sell cheap.

They actually have done that - $299 is one of the cheaper console launch prices in history - but they've completely screwed up by having that price as bare bones, to the point where if you just spent that and bought the boxed console it would literally be useless. Even the Atari 2600 in 1977 had Combat included in the box ffs.

You call it a bubble they live in, which is true - but as a businessman, I just think they're mental. Someone who runs a corner shop would be able to tell them quickly why what they're doing here is incredibly daft.

Nintendo consoles survive because they know how to make money on them. There is rarely an oversupply (hence the inevitable shortages) and they sell them at a profit/break even price.

They are still selling out of 3DSs at around the same price it was released even though its 6 year old tech ffs.

Getting rid of Miiverse is stupid though. It was by far the best social media platform.

Found the biggest flaw in Destiny's new system, good for new players who don't care but not so much for people like me that want to boost a bit higher.

The gear drops up until your level. So if you are 320 light, you aren't going to get a 360 armour drop, more 322, 330 at best. It makes increasing your light level quite difficult to be honest, very slow raises until you are high enough to do content which will then slowly increase it again. There are methods mind you, but when there is a total of 8 different things that contribute to the light level, for arguments sake me now. I have exotic gloves on, a 340 something, 350 boots. Except my class item and ghost shell are much lower so i have to hope i get one that is near the others otherwise it brings my level down, which in turn makes it harder to get better armour in general!

Bought Battlefront, and despite the fact that I wasn't going to due to the backlash I saw elsewhere - I really like it.

I do only play Skirmish though, and am a audiophile - the game sounds incredible.

I had it. Got rid of it. And now really want it again. But don't want to pay full price for it. Doesn't seem to have gone down much. Even in second hand.

Loved the dogfighting in the biplanes.
