Computer games.

Picked up No Man's Sky for £7 pre-owned a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it so far. There's been a pretty major patch recently but it can't be that different to the game everyone was moaning about.

Have to interject there.

It is NOTHING compared to what they advertised it as. Sean Murray is a fraud and always will be.

Its price probably reflects that.

The Foundation update has changed the game. The same core is there, but there is so much more content to it now.

It is still crap though. It sits in my GOG account, and after the Foundation update I fired it up to see how much it has changed.

In the sub-reddit, the fact that it went up to 5000 active players on Steam, seemed to be the marker for all the die-hard 'Sean Murray is god' fans to come out in force. Keep in mind that the game launched with some 500,000 players, and within a week it was down to 10,000. 3 weeks later, the average daily players was less than 1,000.

It really is still a shell of a game.

Did you hate it by any chance?

I've probably taken it a bit far (and possibly fallen asleep with it running), but the game has so much content that to rush the main story would be such a shame.

Haven't even started on the expansions yet.
I just couldn't get into it. For some reason, whether it was the fact you barely get experience for killing things or what , but it didn't grip me.

It's a shame because it was my type of game and it didn't turn me off like dragon age did (thought that was awful )but for some reason witcher just felt too much like a chore. I enjoyed Gwent in it though haha

It was a game I wanted to love but I never had the draw to play it, whereas skyrim always pulls me back in

I don't think they did advertise it mate. That was probably the issue with it. The fact rhea didn't market it as one thing or another and Sony jumped onto it made it appear more of a game than it actually was.

So many people including a good mate of mine bought it without thinking because they had the impression it was an immense game and the whole while the only real crime the people making it committed was actually keeping their mouth shut.

Sorry mate. I have to disagree.

Sean Murray allowed people to get caught up in the hype of the game. When I get in later I'll find the Reddit thread of every single lie he told promoting the game. It's honestly shocking.

Hello Games deserve 0 money from anyone at all. Complete con artists charging 40 quid for that game.

That isn't actually true Ash.

Murray did a massive media tour, including a stint with Colbert. And a load of sit-downs with IGN where they showed (what turned out to be) heavily scripted areas. Along with sort of alluding to things in the several interviews he did.

To say they didn't market the game is just flat out wrong. The marketing was the only reason it sold so well.

No need mate.

Here you go:

Let Charlize Theron explain No Man's Sky...

Here's the picture of your date

You book a fancy restaurant and buy a new suit, it's gonna cost you a fair bit. Then your date turns up

It's kinda similar to the pictures and you could probably have a good time if you squint. But it's not what was promised.

I stand corrected then. I got the impression with what I read about it that there was very little coverage of the game before release.

If No Mans Sky was released completely out of the blue, with no prior press or teasers - Would it be a bad game?

It's incredibly difficult to get a fully objective review of the game because everybody just seems to cryarse that it 'wasn't as described'

Apparently there are hundreds of changes in every yearly iteration of FIFA - Really noticeable aren't they?
