I'd probably wait to see if his leg works before giving him a new deal, it's a nice gesture though, will no doubt give the lad a boost, using it as a stick to beat lukaku with is frankly weird

A few years ago in my naïve youth I might of agreed mate, but do you not think Seamus wants UCL football ? Do you not think Seamus wants to be paid Messi Money ? Of course he does !

What Seamus and Morgan have realised is that getting UCL with Everton can be done if the board put their money were their mouth is.

Seamus is a grafter that earns his money/reputation. Lukaku right now appears to be a typical modern day child who demands everyone else works for them to live cushy. Rom wants readymade UCL, Seamus wants to earn his right. There is a difference mate.

yes, Rom whilst bright is very immature. Seamus though is a captain

Genuine question.
Without Googling, name one top balls player who came back not a top balls player after breaking his leg. If possible, he in question must have played the game in the last...say... 15 years - when medical science / sports science was really ramped us with Doctors/Experts employed within football clubs.

I work in investment. This was just my business opinion.

I wonder about the mentality of some people here.
Should we sack AAron Lennon because he's not fit for work.
Loyalty works both ways.

How does this relate to Seamus contract? We're not talking about sacking him, it's about him being offered a long term contract with no guarantee of him being able to perform to a standard that we need.

So because a player who has been loyal to us , never pushed for a move when continually linked with united who were winning the league and in the CL every season breaks a leg ,we say stuff that lad we will wait till you are back and see how you get on before we offer you a contract.
Everton that ........not

There's no sentiment in business, unfortunately.

Of course there is, business is at its heart about people and therefore infulenced a lot by people's sentiments - both good and bad.

We have a reputation of looking after our players, not only do I think it the right thing to do from a person perspective I also think it can pay off financially both in recruitment and retainment.

Exactly. We have a big summer ahead and players will want to know they will be looked after by Everton and rewarded for loyalty.

A contract until he's 33.

Too long. We don't even know if he'll fully recover from his injury. I think the club have this wrong, I'd have gone with a year contract with an automatic 2 years extension if he plays a certain amount of games.
Just how bad do you think he could be when he comes back? Completely unsellable? Because if he can't cut it, the club will sell him, if he has no contract, he'll just walk.
Either way, he deserves the contract, if anything, it takes the stress of his future away and can only help his recovery.
Great move by the club
