I don`t know how old you are, but in the 80`s it ruined parts of Liverpool and the Wirral.

It was like a tidal wive that swept through parts of the city and completely decimated whole communities.

Under no circumstances ever is smack a good thing, as it only leads to very bad stuff.
I live in a small town with very few job prospects etc for the younger generation and cocaine is having that effect here now. A weekend out in town used to be a fantastic night, all the pubs full of people having a great time and spending, there were 3 nightclubs which were all full every Friday and Saturday night, now you could lie across the seats by the bar in some pubs (the ones that are actually still open) as they are empty. The only people out are the dealers runners and the people who are wanting coke. People can laugh and scoff at this post all they want but sadly this is the reality.

Totally agree, it is weirdly rife yet not talked about in general.

Place I live still has a bad problem, they reckon something like 2% of the population of the city is an active user. My girlfriend works in a really rough school and about a third of the kids who go there have parents who are taking heroin to some degree of regularity. Some of them are lovely, others pure sketchy. Ironically one of the nicer ones just got bundled off to prison for robbing a pharmacy in an extremely amateurish manner.

Bad bad stuff.

I did notice when I was up your way a couple of weeks ago that there were a lot of pubs and clubs shut in the centre - not a good look.

The town is finished mate. It used to be a thriving hub of community and visitors, it’s a busy port town and end of the line train station, there are literally thousands coming through the port each week yet there is nothing in the town now to draw visitors in. The town centre of a day time is a depressing mix of boarded up shops or pop up charity shops and local ne’er do wells pacing up and down looking for the next person they can rob or the next bike they can steal to sell, if it wasn’t for my Mrs and daughter I would have left here years ago.

Didn`t realise it was that bad mate, I knew places like Rhyl had it bad and parts of Conway, but you never hear anything about Holyhead.

It`s such a stunning place, with the mountain and South Stack, with the walkers, climbers, bird watchers and all the stuff going on with the sea - Kayaking, coasteering etc.

How did the council and Police lose their grip and let things come so bad ?

When I was a kid Holyhead was renowned for smack issues

I have to ask why you think drugs are the reason for the change in nightlife? Where I live it's a very common thing to do but our nightlife and pubs are booming still. Sure lots of pubs have shut over the years but that happens everywhere and don't see how it would be linked to coke.
