What made you want to use that stuff if i may ask? Coke i can understand on a night out but shooting that into my veins isn't something I'd ever consider.

Oh wait, we never injected it, chasing it was (and still is I guess) the casual method. It seemed like a natural progression in the heady rave days. No one starts off injecting really,it is a gradual move from chasing it.

Had a lot of fun with it years ago, I'd be a happy man if I never saw the [Poor language removed] again, truly a bad drug to get into, don't thi k it can't creep up on you, seen it ruin several lives and then the knock on effect

Same here mate.

Seen a couple of lads I know lose relationships, jobs and nearly lose their houses over it ( debts racking up )

For some people it starts off casual and then just spirals out of control.

Plus no one nice is involved in it`s trade.

THis is where I was at until the end of last year. Took some fairly heavy threats from my wife to make me up. I have not had a beer since either, things can change easily when the beer flows though. I literally have to stay in every night.

TBH, I envy you in some ways. What you don't know cannot hurt you etc.

CHasing is basically smoking it neat off foil.It turns to a liquid and a vapour. Very glamorous I can assure you. ....

I don`t know how old you are, but in the 80`s it ruined parts of Liverpool and the Wirral.

It was like a tidal wive that swept through parts of the city and completely decimated whole communities.

Under no circumstances ever is smack a good thing, as it only leads to very bad stuff.

Surely just one bucket of heroin would be ok? At Christmas, say?

I am 44. WHen I was a kid in N North Wales my mum was on the scene with all the punks etc and it was rife then. My Aunties boyfriend died of an overdose and a good friend of mine at school. I am not trying to glamorise it at all in my earlier posts, merely pointing out that it is not certain death.

From experience of others when I was growing up, very few people seem to be able to " take it or leave it " as the high is so seductive.

There hardly seems to be any young smack heads coming through anymore. The ones that are left are all fifty plus skeletons, with Tamazee legs and no teeth !

There is no question it is not nice, but, you can easily smoke it, enjoy and carry on your life. It is the availability and social status that are the issue. In the 80's everyone was on it and it was everywhere. It was like smoking, people not particularly enjoying it would do it again and again cos everyone else was.
By the time my group were using it to come down from raves it was much different, it was not everywhere and it was not cool.

Place I live still has a bad problem, they reckon something like 2% of the population of the city is an active user. My girlfriend works in a really rough school and about a third of the kids who go there have parents who are taking heroin to some degree of regularity. Some of them are lovely, others pure sketchy. Ironically one of the nicer ones just got bundled off to prison for robbing a pharmacy in an extremely amateurish manner.
