This club is just too nicey-nice. The fact that Williams, Jagielka and Baines all start regularly tells me their aren’t enough hard hearts at our club to know when it’s time to move the old guard on and bring in youth. And I’m sorry but if Baines and Jags (who have been fantastic servants) don’t want to jump, then you have to push them. It’s actually unfair and almost cruelly masochistic to have them as constant regulars. Let them fade out of the first team with dignity, not like this. We did this with Tim Howard, we’ve set ourselves up for it all again with Rooney and Williams signing these past two summers. This is a football club not a retirement home.

Of course it would help if the new signings we’d made were actually decent. New manager has a massive rebuild on his hands.
