forget his goalscoring record, you are missing the point. he's a striker who will perform well for a team fighting relegation or lower midtable, but not for a team trying to push into the top 6. i thought that much was obvious considering his career trajectory.

£30 - 35 million tops plus palace need the cash by all accounts.. like him personally, I don't think he ever felt settled at the RS and they didn't really play to his strengths. Got goal scoring pedigree and probably the best header of a ball around in my humble opinion.

Do they need the cash, thought they've recently been bought out so don't need money, plus they paid 32mil for him. Could see them wanting 40+ mil

FFS we've only beaten them twice at GP in 25 years of the PL, but seem to love Selhurst. On three occasions, we've lost at GP and won the reverse fixture at Selhurst (92/93, 97/98 and 14/15).

He's a miserable grumpy git, does awful stagger-walk penalties and is only effective when playing an ariel game.
I'd rather we signed someone else and for the money he would cost, I'm sure we could do better.

That is being stated, from a complete noob, knowing next to nothing about the man, or players for that matter. Namely me.

Benteke would be really effective and better than rom as a pivot to fire the ball into, brilliant at holding the ball up to bring the likes of Sandro, Klassen, Rooney, Mirallas and Sig/Barkley into play. This style would suit away from home and against tougher teams at home.

In terms of goal scoring if you create him a good chance in the box I'm semi confident he would put most away. However, his main threat is areal from crosses and our lack of width right now would make me question how effective he could be for us? This is perhaps why he didn't succeed across the park?

If the rumours are true I trust Koeman and Walsh 100% with their vision on this one. And I guess Rooney, Sig/Barkley and Klassen could still find his head from a more central position with a slight angle.

I'd take him. But his form was fantastic at the end of the season but Palace have no other strikers.
