Chris Kamara/Owen on Twitter

Owen said himself he wants to go to a Prem club where he'll play regularly, after being stuck on United's bench/injured for years. He will get 'more' game time for us, but won't be first choice and game time will still be limited.

Have to say, Owen has come across as either pretty arrogant or very self confident in his recent press/twitter statements. So he's either got a massive ego or he genuinely thinks he's still got it in his locker at the top level.... guess we'll see.

Heard we had negotiations with him but his demands were too high and it turned Moyes off. For a player who is patently unwanted by almost every club at the top level, he seems pretty reluctant to lower his wage demands, even to play for his boyhood club who are *apparently* his preferred destination by a mile. Strikes me as a player who has fallen completely out of love with football, best to pack it in and devote himself entirely to his horses.

I keep saying it and maybe I'm hearing it wrong but from Day one of this I'm told we haven't even made an informal enquiry never mind an offer

I imagine the whole rumour is just about because we have been in for him in the past and it's well known we've been looking for attacking options in the summer and it's just been people putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. As slow as we are when it comes to negotiating with other clubs, when it comes to free agents that we want from the start, we usually do things pretty swiftly (see Naismith and Beckford), I imagine if we had any interest in Owen, we would have gone for him at the start of the summer when he was still free but we hadn't spent money on Mirallas.

I wouldn't be completely against Owen on a limited wage because I do think he is a natural striker and if I have read this completely wrong and he does sign, I'll support him and hope he does show signs of his old self, but common sense really does just dictate to me this is a no-goer.

I find it strange that Owen to Everton is not mentioned in todays "what the papers say" article, even tho pretty much every newspaper that is listed there are reporting that he is on his way to us. They are mentioning that we are interested in both Johnson and Niang, but nothing about Owen.

Might this be because they want to keep the Owen deal completeley quiet, and not even mention him in wtps...?

Straws Clutching.

Don't know. I just thought it was weird that they didn't mention him in the article.

It was just a genuine question mate , if its the case maybe they think is so ridiculous it'll only reflect badly on the club so they are playing it down ?
