you cannot deny that we put in better performances against the chelsea's, spurs, arsenals, and mancs of the league than against the readings, stokes or wigans that is not even debatable this season surely?
IMO, that´s not in any way a result of any form of underestimation on behalf of Moyes or the players, but rather because we find it harder to deal with the defend and counter attack strategy than the open football played by the more technically adept sides in the league.
If anything I think Moyes by this point will be rather severe in giving games against lower half opposition thorough preparation.
This just isn't true stoke and reading, wigan in the first game put us under a great deal of sustained pressure in those matches they didn't just sit back and defend and that's because we seem to wilt when teams play a pressing game against us.
Maybe the bigger sides don't press as much and allows us to play so in that case that shows a lack of composure by our players when put under pressure and it's no coincidence that we then revert to long balls. When Phil Neville is one of your midfielders the back 4 don't trust to pass it to his feet so they lump it.
We played a lot better against reading then you seem to remember. We should have gone into half time 6-0 up.
Big Vic will slot hat trick tonight
but we didn't and got beat because second half we played like we thought it was so easy first half we didn't need to bother. This has been the case on more than one occasion this season, when we know the football we are capable of it's frustrating to see us play so badly.
This is the next step to us actually becoming a regular top 4 contender, consistency. we don't have any.
What did the Leeds game show? The only massive changes to our team that night was playing Junior at CM, Oveido and Gueye started but they can hardly be classed as kids
Precisely, he made changes that disrupted the side & had us on the back foot.
I really fear for us tonight, especially with Mucha in goal.
Not happy at all.
I don't think anyone should be very worried, Cheltenham only scraped through themselves against conference opposition in Hereford, they have the same problem as any league 2 team, as individuals theyre too inconsistent so unless they all play a blinder and Everton play a stinker we shouldn't be troubled at all, even with a mix of experience and reserves.
anyone else a bit jittery after all the giant killing this weekend? We need a professional approach to this game because if we treat is as a gimme then we could end up with egg on our chin.
We drew against Arsenal and lost to Chelsea. While we beat Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle and Wigan.
The difference is expectation.
