Setting up with three at the back was utter stupidity. Basically conceding possession and giving them the attacking impetus from the get go. Moronic.

It highlighted how big a miss Gana was, and painted our mindset from the off. Chelsea knew it and took advantage.

That said, not much Koeman could do. If he went with the same system and played Cleverley as the direct replacement, we'd be battered the same way. Only option really was to play Davies and show some confidence in a youth player, rather than the tried and tested failure that is Cleverley in that role.

Looking at it though, as negative as this sounds, I don't think we have the squad to ever have had a prayer in this match, and it's why games like Burnley were so crucial to our prospects of doing anything in this league this year.
