Williams seems to have forgotten what to do with a ball once he has won it or been passed it. Other than that I thought most of the side put in respectable - although not faultless - performances. Impressed with the debut of Beningime - better than I expected from him. I imagine Dowell, Williams and Walsh are spitting about being out on loan atm...

That year Chelsea were crap they fired Mourinho in December and managed 10th without really ever hitting too much of a run of form. It is only late October so it isn't too late to maybe sneak 7th again or 6th if someone really struggles. That's me being optimistic of course but we have the players to do respectable the rest of the way.

Yeah that's a good comparison to be honest, they were in the relegation zone for a while there. That second half performance was the most threat we've posed this season. Quick fire passing, some decent through balls, crosses, just overall good link-up play. If we can play like that consistently then it doesn't really matter who's stood in the box for the tap in. Rooney just needs to stop thinking he's Paul Scholes and actually get in the box once in a while.

That said, someone who can create a goal from nothing is invaluable.

Lookman Mirallas Lennon Kenny Niasse Beni McCarthy and to an extent Davies all not used by Koeman going out and putting in a decent shift at Chelsea

Went for Beni, Davies a close second (if a little reckless) and thought Kenny had a good game up against top players.

Huge positives to take from that - first half we showed a great defensive shape to limit them to practically nothing, second half we took them on and dominated - more shots, more on target, and better chances - ultimately they had a great keeping performance and the width of a crossbar from losing that game.

Sign that they brought on Fabregas, Pedro and Moratta during that half shows how on top we where.

Willian was the best player on the park by a mile though, and every-time i see him he is, shocking he doesn't start like

Willian was brilliant, I think if he played for us we would have won. Hope Barkley signs the contract.

Personal thoughts…

Yes, this was a defeat for the Blues, but the difference in attitude, pressure, self-belief and willingness to work their socks off was clearly apparent.

Ahead of the game, nobody would have given Everton much hope of victory at Stamford Bridge, I’ll bet Antonio Conte wasn't expecting half the battle his side got.

Very impressive and my personal Man of the Match was Beni Baningime – an outstanding debut that bodes well for his and our future.
Agree entirely.

Much better second half. Gone for Davies cos he was into everything. Great debut for young Beni (haven't learned how to spell his last name yet). Rooney, McCarthy and, as ever, Williams, were poor for me. Mirallas also in the first half but he really was better second. Close but no cigar again though. Don't like us all cheering after we've just lost, but I think some are just excited that we at least tried to play for once this season. Don't think we'll ever win this bloody thing. I'm gonna check out Reddit where they've probably all got "Unsy" bunting and wallpaper up. Idiots.
