Thought Beni’s tackle after he lost the ball on the halfway line was a great example to all. Very impressive second half really, looked like everyone was trying. I hope we don’t revert to three #10’s for Sunday. Lester away is not going to be easy but Unsy says we will win!

We played better than we have for a long time- thats positive. On the negative side we are still relying on a team built too much around youth- kids who would be more suitable on loan playing in the Championship league or lower. Fine for 1-2 youth playing regular games but too many right now for us to compete.

...I actually recommended Baningime to a manager abroad I know about a month ago, telling him to approach the Blues for a loan deal. Not much chance now, I suspect.

Chuffed for the lad but not in the least surprised he wasn’t phased by the occasion. He stood out as outstanding in the first game of a Dallas Cup competition a few seasons ago and it was great to see that level of performance at top level.

The questions I would ask is why is their RB Rudiger totally on his own at the back post to head in Where is Baines and our other Left sided players.
And going on the photo you can't see, but did we have anybody at all on the posts for the corner, or is that all a bit 'old fashioned' now

...defending set pieces is something that should be repetitively worked on in training. I remember under Moyes we hardly conceded and Jagielka saying how well the players were drilled. We’ve been very poor since, particularly under Martinez. I notice Unsworth said in his post match interview that he wants to get the players out on the training pitch, be interesting if we become more organised in that area.

Very good performance, particularly in the second half.

Look at the youth in the team too:

Pickford (23)
Kenny (20)
Baningime (19)
Davies (19)
Calvert-Lewin (20)
Lookman (20)

Bodes well for the future.

The performance was 100% improvement over what we've been dished up so far this season. I thought we were unlucky in the 2nd half as we chased the game. This was proven with the subs that Conte made Fabregas, Pedro and Moratta.
The only concern I'm beginning to have is Pickfords distribution which is poor. But I don't want to dwell on that after a much improved performance.

Do you mean apart from the last 5 minutes of every match?

Not sure Ive been happier about a lose. Thought the team wanted to win, the second half I thought we were really unlucky not to get a goal earlier. The fans seemed to feed off of the teams energy and then that helped the team. Great effort from all. Gave MOTM to Lennon cos it was good to see him back and put in a shift. Was also great seeing wingers on the pitch. Beni was great, as was Davies and Pickford.

I reckon we start picking up wins now. Unsy bringing through youth will be a kick up the backsides to all the established players. I feel positive again (which can only lead to disappointment) and cant wait for the Jan window to get a striker and some CB's.

If we take that second half performance onto the next game and beyond, I'm sure it will get everyone buzzing again. Yes it's early days, yes we don't have a permanent manager, but some need to f@#$ this negative mentality off and get behind the lads. Some good performances, as already mentioned, and I gave my motm to Beni - done more in 1 game than Schneiderlin has all season, especially that tackle on that David Luiz wannabe!

And to finish has anyone listened to the Mirallas interview regarding his comment on Koeman?

What did he say?
