Was out all day yesterday so just watched the highlights now. Annoying result and yes the ref ballsed up, but those things happen so can't get too upset about it - I thought Costa had a good case for a penalty when he appeared to be pushed in the box by Jags. Also not down with all these people saying we need to 'shut up shop' and 'learn how to protect a lead'. Their first goal was a massive balls up by Jags - our best(?) and most experienced defender - and more so Tim Howard, which could have happened any time and has got nothing to do with shutting up shop/protecting a lead. The second was an unfortunate deflection, and as we know the third was offside. You can't blame the players for the officials mistakes.

9 points from 8 games that's relegation form but it's ok because we play lovely football.
We're in danger of losing our best players at the end of the season, how much worse off would we be next year?

Talking of which, what happened to the latest takeover bid?...........................

Calmed down a bit now. Overriding thing for me is that we're close to being a very good side. Lost only one game away from home this season which is good. But if being super critical we've thrown so many points away. Issue is that we're not really winning at home. Said it before, but we've only beaten Villa, Sunderland and Chelsea. Not good enough at Goodison this season. Only a run of wins on the bounce (4 or 5) will restore my belief for this season (league wise). Longer term I'm still reasonably optimistic if we can add strength in defensive areas.

Agreed. And maybe it would help if the fans at Goodison got behind the team more, and that includes Howard. No way should there be any criticism of the players during the actual game.

Yeah. Great value for money and entertainment it is too. And just like rugby which doesn't take 4 hours to play, they have a clock that winds down time so precisely the correct amount of time is played. And no one in the crowd or on the pitch feels cheated when video replay technology is used. Just like no one now disputes goal line technology - so what was the fuss about with football accepting that ???

You wouldn't be able to fix matches anymore.

Somehow the playing field should be leveled with poor referee decisions -
The 7 minutes and the 8 and a half minutes should be publicly explained -
the off side should lead to some sort of penalty for officials making such crucial mistakes -
2 points could mean relegation at the end of the season or a team can miss the top 4 by 2 points - that's how serious it is -
if any other professional makes that kind of negligent mistake costing someone that kind of money his pants get sued off him -
why should football referees receive amnesty for blatant mistakes?

You've got this in a nutshell.

Rich clubs being the propaganda darlings of Murdoch's Sky are the cancer in the PL
Brian Glanville writing in the Sunday Times, another Murdoch organ referred to Terry's 98th minute goal as "possibly offside".
He quotes Martinez and Hiddink extensively but doesn't call it for what it was
If he knows the rules of Association Football he knows it wasn't "possibly"
This is the quality of football journalism that will allow Martinez to be fined for publicly outing cheating officials but not ask any hard questions of referees, the FA etc
That's how Blatter lasted for so long and it's only a matter of time until we hear of rigged matches in FIFA tournaments replace rigged voting for the tournaments
How much are results influenced by or even determined by the power brokers of the PL

Needs must. Far too many of these decisions are having a negative impact on the game. Especially when it is the same select fm group of teams that benefit from them consistently.
Don't disagree it's how decisions could be questioned, challenged and who would arbitrate on them
Would it be a like in tennis , 3 challenges per match?
