Surely we watch football to be entertained , love if we win every game but that's nor happened for quite some time. Second place is first loser so unless we win something the style of football is quite important to me, I've seen us play pretty average stuff and in the end was turned off by it
But if you won the Champs League with scrappy wins you wouldn't say 'I can't really celebrate this win because we didn't play good football' but playing great football and getting relegated, is that better? Not saying we're going down btw but you get my point.

This is Everton..... Do you really feel there is any investment coming and if there is ...won't we find a way to mess it up ?
Just gutted today .... You'd think I'd be used to it after 45 yrs.....sigh

..at least you've witnessed the mid 80s. I have to be positive and think investment is coming.

And we won't under Martinez
We didn't but much of a run together last season but March /April we did win five out of six starting with a 3-0 home win against Newcastle and ending with a 3-0 home win against Mufc. During that sequence we drew with swansea 1-1. 16 out of the next 18 points would make a big difference if we repeated it now.

One day we'll score a goal in the 90th minute and actually win, one day.

In a season where everyone is beating each other, we're floundering by drawing nearly every week, a loss and a win is obviously worth more than two draws.

We're very close to going on a great run, too late for any 4th place push now I guess, let's go and win a cup and hopefully we'll get a nice Rich American to take us over before the so called big clubs come circling for all our prize assets.

Whatever the minority on here want to say about naive defending (and i take the point) there seems to be a pretty big consensus of about 90% of the posts i've read here in the last half hour that we were ROBBED by dodgy refereeing. Now, these are mainly gut reactions; mine, which i copied again above, was initially posted on here without having read a single comment by anybody else. I think this points to the fact that many of us are very uncomfortable with the refereeing at the end of that game (and i'm saying this as nicely as i can now that i've calmed down a bit). Serious questions need to be asked now by good investigative journalists (because nobody will listen to partisan fans) about the level of corruption in the game, because you can bet your bottom dollar that if corruption is rampant in FIFA it has spread over here as well, and as others have said, the money men at the top have their darlings and, shall we say, like to 'look after them'. It looks as if the city of Liverpool isn't big enough for two such darlings, either. What's the point of a Club investing lots of money, and players and fans investing so much PASSION, when it counts for little in the face of corruption. I won't even suffix that last sentence with a question mark, because it's rhetorical. And i'm still FUMING.....
You make some good points. How would the 'premier league brand' look if the reigning champions and one of the media darlings get embroiled in a relegation battle which could see them go down. Unlikely I know but not inconceivable based on Chelsea's position before today. Scudamore (the premier leagues chief executive) spoke about how the 'brand' was affected when United didn't make the top 4. I will support Leicester (after Everton) this season and really hope they win the premier league and stick 2 fingers up to the league and its establishment. No matter how much it might hurt their 'brand'.

Thats true but can you see that happening? The most frustrating thing is we're not far away from being a great side, a cup win might just convince some of our better players to stay...

Fair enough..... I'm just worried that we are going to rue this missed opportunity. Champions League was up for grabs this season. I will be shocked if we can keep the squad together after this year. Fast forward to Sept next year .... no Cup this year , league finish outside of Europe and the loss of Lukaku or Stones or Barkley ( heaven forbid more than one of them ) Potential for several seasons in the wilderness. Frustrating because ,as you say.....the team is on the verge of something special. Could be a very short shelf life !

.....it's a difficult one and I appreciate your thinking but Lukaku and Stones are under contract. I appreciate its a big 'if' and not entirely sensible but if we have new owners we can keep those lads, the only problem is I think our main problem is attitude and organisation rather than personnel.
