Whatever the minority on here want to say about naive defending (and i take the point) there seems to be a pretty big consensus of about 90% of the posts i've read here in the last half hour that we were ROBBED by dodgy refereeing. Now, these are mainly gut reactions; mine, which i copied again above, was initially posted on here without having read a single comment by anybody else. I think this points to the fact that many of us are very uncomfortable with the refereeing at the end of that game (and i'm saying this as nicely as i can now that i've calmed down a bit). Serious questions need to be asked now by good investigative journalists (because nobody will listen to partisan fans) about the level of corruption in the game, because you can bet your bottom dollar that if corruption is rampant in FIFA it has spread over here as well, and as others have said, the money men at the top have their darlings and, shall we say, like to 'look after them'. It looks as if the city of Liverpool isn't big enough for two such darlings, either. What's the point of a Club investing lots of money, and players and fans investing so much PASSION, when it counts for little in the face of corruption. I won't even suffix that last sentence with a question mark, because it's rhetorical. And i'm still FUMING.....

Ye the neutralls love us.

Whats the point in playing beautiful football if you don't win games? We're playing well and STILL not winning thats got to be concern? Scrappy 1-0 wins would surely be better?
Surely we watch football to be entertained , love if we win every game but that's nor happened for quite some time. Second place is first loser so unless we win something the style of football is quite important to me, I've seen us play pretty average stuff and in the end was turned off by it

Go on the FA website, get an email address and email them. Pretty simple really. Maybe if enough people do it they will sit up and take notice, particularly if it's publicised. Or perhaps there could be a signed petition on this site that is forwarded both to them and the media.
Will not happen mate........... You know how corrupt FIFA is............. the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

If it was that simple every game would be 0-0
Nah, closing down in last few minutes to clinch win is not hard, it is about desire and mentality. Scoring three away at Chelsea is hard and deserves credit. Not finding the extra few percent of effort and concentration is a bit unprofessional, certainly I would expect it of a kids team never mind pros at top level.

....on the verge, I feel we are on the verge of being very good or very ordinary. Timing is great for new owners with real investment.

This is Everton..... Do you really feel there is any investment coming and if there is ...won't we find a way to mess it up ?
Just gutted today .... You'd think I'd be used to it after 45 yrs.....sigh

I'm very skeptical. I don't think anything much has changed. We'll see in 6,7,8 games time. Hopefully you're right, because defending is our achilles heel, but I strongly doubt it.

Look I want us to improve defensively, of course mate. But, imo, today was more down to terrible reffing and a bit of bad luck than down to bad defending.
