Chelsea Barkley Bid Rejected

lol

Not down to having inferior players around him no?

Imagine Chelsea winning the league last year with Hazard and Costa playing off Lennon, Lewin, Mirallas and Valencia? No, I can't either.[/QUOTE}
It's a bit of chicken or egg though. At some point, a player needs to be the player that makes other players better. Hazard and Costa makes everyone around them better. It's possible Ross has the talent to be that player. But he hasn't shown it. Iceland had no one around him and single handedly kept Swans up last season. Could you even imagine Ross doing something similar?

In the current crazy market allowing for the fact that Barkley is injured I think it says something that we have had one bid of 25m...so far.

He is player that is rarely injured so I don't think maybe three moths out of a career that may span another decade will turn clubs away from him.

The lack of interest shows that he is not as highly regarded by others as by ourselves.
When you think there is a 50m bid for Sanchez, we paid 30 for Ml Keane , Oxlade Chamberlin is somewhere between thirty and forty with Chelsea and Liverpool bidding all with twelve months left on their contracts.

He's not in the same league as Sanchez. I'd argue that over the last few years Barkley has probably done more than Chamberlin but other teams might see him fitting their system better- I don't know.

Semantics I guess. I'm just making the point he's done well for us.
Indeed he has done well.
The utter frustration from us is that we all know he could do SO much better for us.
Now surrounded by better players, Rooneys game would be perfect for him to play off, picking passes, runs into space etc.

So sad, so frustrating he won't try and fulfil what once must have been his dream.

I don't think there will be any winners out of this long term.

Barkley's had a good enough impact to have us playing towards the upper part of the league. We're not there in spit of him that's for sure.

Except his agent :(

We've definitely improved our squad, I just don't think it's enough to get us any near to the top 6. Looking at it that way from Barkley's perspective he'd probably be inclined to give it a shot at one of the big boys.

I think all that is secondary to the fact he really doesn't get along with Koeman. If that's the reason for Barkley leaving then I think it's poor form on his part, his mentality should be to change the manager's opinion of him and get better everyday.

And so he must think multiple title winning manager Conte won't say he's crap, if he is playing crap ?

Hope that goes well Roscoe.

That's why I think it's extremely poor form on Barkley's part if that's the reason he's leaving. Unfortunately we don't get to know the ins and outs of these things.

Exactly. The real question for me is where Ross goes in 2 years when he leaves Chelsea after playing 15 games.

He should look at Fabian Delph and realise that. The ones who successfuly left us for bigger PL teams were consistent performers (Lescott, Rooney, Arteta) unlike Ross. Another example was Pienaar and he had a right to feel unhappy when he wasn't getting minutes at Spurs and thus came back. Ross will end up at the likes of Bournemouth like Gosling if they are still up or WBA at best. The only person who may be able to help him and talk sense to him is Pochettino.

I think it is the apparent lack of interest that surprises me. I thought there would be several clubs looking to sign him. I know there was an expectation all summer that it might be Spurs but I expect that Barkley and his agent would have known what clubs were showing genuine interest , I wonder if they have been surprised as well.
I wonder as well if he will still attract a pay scale as good as the one offered at Everton ?

Given the hysteria that is currently surrounding Arsenal it would not surprise me to see them enter the race to sign him if for no reason other than showing the fans they are active.

I think Arsenal would actually be a better fit for him. That quick passing game and slick movement will probably bring the best out of him. It will force him to play the way we know he can and has shown from time to time. It won't give him time to think about what he's doing where as at us he dictated the pace of the game. If he isn't that person and so is forced to play at Sanchez's game it might actually make him better. I could be utterly wrong of course
