2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

The less he plays, the more people insist he should be getting minutes. Then he gets minutes, and shows us what he really brings to the team instead. That short contract doesn't seem like such a bad decision after all.
Absolutely spot on, the less he plays the better, can be good once every 7-8 games off the bench but nowhere near good enough vast majority of the time.

Thought he had some really poor moments again yesterday, but I like him. He's trying to make things happen. The transition from defence to attack for the Beto chance was excellent, the header he won to Dibling than got into the box to get on the end of it was excellent. He had a great chance when he took a touch instead of hitting it first time, again he was in the right place.

Once he went off, I think we looked less likely to grab a goal tbh and we need players on the pitch who have a goal in them. For me, he should start against Forest, Grealish on the left, Dibling on the right.

All of the arguments for playing him that are being made still fit with him being an impact sub later in the game when it is stretched and space is opened up and defenders aren’t fresh and able to deal with him so well.
Under those circumstances his ability to drive forward is more effective. Earlier in games he is more easily stopped and he doesn’t have the tactical awareness to play a more structured game.

Good post mate.

I think hes average with the ball . That one good pass was after 20 poor ones .

20s pushing it. But you arent finding a player in the world that does everything perfect everytime. But you will find players who can do it during a game to make it count for a goal. There was your example against burnley. Defence to attack over the length of the pitch. Who else in that team could do that? In a poor game one bit of quality could have won it.

We aren’t a possession team either though, we’re just pragmatic. Look at our average possession and it will tell you that. It just means though we have footballers who are actually happy and capable of keeping the ball.

We don’t play slow possession based football….
We’re nothing. That’s the Everton identity the last five years. Not having one.

Utter bonkers this fanbase, he is fine, a proper decent prem player that offers something different.

As soon as anyone has a quite game or 2, they are deemed not good enough and slagged off.

Madness.
Can understand now why he was given such short contract. Failed to take his chance to stake a place in the starting line up, when all available.
