Champions League revamp

My only concern is the effect this will have on our own investment. Apart from that I would be made up if the 'big six' and all their ilk buggered off.

Think this is a good time to remind ourselves Spurs haven’t been champions for SIXTY YEARS, Arsenal are literally a midtable side.

True. But this is about money. And Spurs make money. And generate money. There is a lot of naiveté about this plan in this thread. To repeat, I am against it completely. But I haven't got my head in the sand. Football has been about money since 1992 and the start of the CL. This idea is merely the culmination of the path football has been on for decades.

Big Red supporters staying painfully quiet..,
My money says they turn on Dem Yanks

I think United and City fans will turn on their owners...

RS need one of their 'figureheads' to start the snowball effect.

From the perspective of an American owner this makes sense. No relegation, no need to play "small" clubs. Travelling 1000s of miles to play isn't unusual in American sports. However, very disappointing from Spurs and Chelsea, as I thought their owners understood football.

Id expect it from Chelsea...also from Daniel Levy...

Surprised about City as their PR exercise falls flat on its face while PSGs owners take the honourable actions.

No chance at all Bayern and PSG say no.

Bayern fans trying to justify it will be fun to do. Booing other clubs for ruining things while they upend the whole system. Tits.

Come again?

Unfortunately money talks. I hate this idea but it is probably inevitable. If those 6 clubs were kicked out of the PL how much do you think BT and Sky would pay for TV rights? 20% of the current deal? Overseas 'fans' want to watch Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal and to a lesser degree, Chelsea, City and Spurs.
Overseas subscriptions/TV rights are where the money is and those 6 clubs are well aware of it. The wages of players in what was left of the PL would take a massive nosedive.
The beginning of the end.

They dont though mate.

Overseas fans watch those teams because of the players in the first place and glory/competition.

South Koreans love Son for example. They will support him and probably stick with Spurs after he leaves unless Korea have another star emerge who plays for another top side.

What does Son do if hes told "no internationals"...Kane ?

If Aurier and Ndombele cant play for France...

They'll all rip their contracts up.

Because they've been conditioned too. Let that group sod off to a league of irrelevance and others will fill that void easily and quickly.

The casual foreign fans will slip away relatively quickly when it becomes clear how dull the concept is, with no risk of failure.

There'd be a transition for five years and the idiots will come grovelling back. I pray it happens. If you had any sense, you'd pray it doesn't happen as it'd be the inevitable death of your club in its current guise.

If it goes ahead, next it will be about playing games in usa etc

Do they? What, from selling players for big money? Weird if that’s a criteria for being classed as an “elite” European club.

That was a good year, apparently. I wasnt born for another 5 years.

Been in Div 2 since then havnt you, and we have won the league more than once since. If Spurs fans go support this, well, get in the bin.

Spurs fans are virtually unanimous in their opposition from what I have seen.
