Champions League revamp

Unfortunately money talks. I hate this idea but it is probably inevitable. If those 6 clubs were kicked out of the PL how much do you think BT and Sky would pay for TV rights? 20% of the current deal? Overseas 'fans' want to watch Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal and to a lesser degree, Chelsea, City and Spurs.
Overseas subscriptions/TV rights are where the money is and those 6 clubs are well aware of it. The wages of players in what was left of the PL would take a massive nosedive.
The beginning of the end.
It's only inevitable if you make some clubs think they have a divine right to be at the top and make the most money for ever and ever.

Would you have any decent players if they were not allowed to play for their Country's though?

Thats what every governing body have said.

Oh. And Spurs as an elite club? Since when?

From the perspective of an American owner this makes sense. No relegation, no need to play "small" clubs. Travelling 1000s of miles to play isn't unusual in American sports. However, very disappointing from Spurs and Chelsea, as I thought their owners understood football.
Chelsea’s owners understand football? Buying the club in 2003, the ownership then pursued the biggest player grab in football history which marked the start of the ever-increasing lop-sided nature of top flight English football.

Chelsea don’t give a jot about competition. Odd shout.

I honestly can’t see how any fans of the clubs could think this is a good idea especially if the PL are gonna kick them out the league. You’ll have the armchair fans who will think it’s a boss idea playing Real Madrid and Barca every other week, but the actual match going supporters can’t be behind this move.

Wouldn’t t be surprised to see breakaway teams started by supporters groups and starting at the bottom of the football pyramid.

I'm looking forward to it. Let's reunite all of the divisions and split the money equally between all of the clubs. Let the Kerry Packer 6 enjoy their franchise league with no away fans and we'll get back to a real competition where any team with a few good players can come through and be competitive. Unfortunate for any proper football fans who support 1 of the clubs who leave, but as soon as you let American owners buy clubs this became a possibility.

Im genuinely amazed that City walked into this PR disaster though.

TBF I am not - all those oligarch clubs know that whilst its possible to buy success, having to buy success repeatedly is beyond even their means. The PL is too competitive, with too much risk of your club having a bad year and requiring several hundred million just to get back into the CL places (or not, as Arsenal know).

The club I am surprised at having anything to do with this are Real (Barca at least have the excuse that they've been destroyed by the previous regime and need the money) - they, like Bayern, exist in a league which as close to guarantees them CL football without repeated massive investment as its possible to get.

Despite that, they will bin that off, and binoff the FA they pretty much run for a league in which they'll be outvoted by the English on everything and a genuine possibility of them winning nothing every year.

Owned by a Russian who actually knows about football, not an investment company.

I agree with the very last part, but dunno about the bold bit. Utd had won the league 8 years out of the previous 11 before Abramovich came along

Indeed, and of course we forget that his original plan - to buy fantastic players whilst they were young - would have worked, had not Mou utterly ruined it.

In some ways we should be grateful because that side (with KdB, Salah, Rom, Courtois and others) would have smashed all comers for about four or five years and without needing much spending on it.
