Champions League Restructure

That was past peak Barca. Peak Barca was against Man Utd in 2011.

The last great side was the Madrid team that beat Atletico in the first final against them in 2014. IMO.

That 'past peak' Barca side you mentioned? Well they went on to win the Champions League and La Liga double 12 months later, ahead of that last 'great side' you speak of.

Instinctiively it didn't sound great but the thing is the CL is already dull as [Poor language removed] as most leagues are predictable borefests, I reckon something does need to change.

Think the format needs more tweaking, the farce that would be the PL winner being denied access can't be allowed to happen for instance. I think if it wasn't as much of a closed shop as they're currently proposing it would be acceptable.

I'd love to see Benfica, Celtic, Red Star Belgrade etc having a chance of winning the thing.
Well the thing to change to make the leagues competitive again would be to put some kind of control on the money that is causing things like the "big 6" or Juve winning 7 straight titles or PSG not having use for a single player on another club in their league or Bayern hoovering up every good German player. But as that isn't happening without some kind of cooperation at the UEFA or FIFA level something else would have to happen.

If they made a European Super League that had a strict salary cap that would possibly be compelling and it would also kill off a lot of great football. It doesn't benefit a ton of supporters but they aren't the focus with any of this stuff. A super league that still just lets the super rich out spend the almost super rich would still not solve the problem of being completely out of balance.

Whether we like it or not, eventually there is going to be a European superleague. The top clubs have been pushing for it since 1993 and it has been getting granted in small incremental steps. This next step will pave the way for a fully closed competition in the next 10-15 years.

Apologies, I stand corrected. And they went on to beat that ‘last great’ Madrid side you speak of, to the title that same season. Well past their peak.
That team might well be past its peak, but goddamn it's pretty good. I dare say great.

Ha Ha

You have no conception of greateness.

Hilarious
Please explain. Instead of being pig headed. You said the last great side to win it was Real in 2014, yet a Barca team ‘past its peak’, went on to win La Liga and Champion League double the very next season, ahead of said ‘last great side’. But that Barca a wasn’t a great team and was past it’s peak?

is that not good for teams like ourselves
it’s not good for fans that of the big six that will have to get used to being one of the worse teams for a change. Once a super league is in full flow the biggest cities will get the best teams.
Money for the premier league will also dry up.
Sad state of affairs.
