Actually I forgot about Junior, he's seen as a first team player now isn't he?

Could he start alongside Gibson week in week out?

What I'm thinking is we don't need back up for CM, we need a player who can START for us there, otherwise it's one of Junior, Heitinga or Neville partnering Gibson. Osman isn't suited to playing CM at all.

If Fellaini's new position is the old Cahill role then we do need a new Centre Mid. We can't be having the likes of Neville and Heitinga there.

Honestly I'd be tempted to start Osman there now we've got options on that right wing. I think he's a good enough passer to sit in that holding role alongside Gibson.

Him and Arteta dominated Man U from that position.

Dunno about anyone else, but thought Huddlestone would've been a good signing - on loan. Would be good back up for Felli/Gibbo, but could start if needed. Shame, cos looks like he's gone to Stoke.

Great game last Sunday

Looking at the bench I'm a bit worried about the lack of depths at midfield.
If we get injuries on Fellaini, Gibson or Neville (!), we don't have many options in central midfield. Osman and Barkley could do a job, but the latter is not up to it yet. Doesn't miss Rodwell, but should we get another CM ?

Osman is a quality CM.

I would play Osman in there with Gibson with 2 from Naismith, Mirallas and Pienaar in the wide positions and Fellaini supporting Jelavic.
We would have Neville, Heitinga, Junior and Barkley as cover. It will be interesting to see if Moyes keeps with Fellaini in the advanced position where he has done so well.

I just don't think Osman has the strength and tackling to play alongside Gibson, at least in games against tougher opposition.

Against the likes of Wigan I'd like to see Osman there though.

He played there in the 3-1 against Man U and that was as convincing a win over a top team as we've ever had under Moyes.

Actually we played with a midfield 5 of Bily, Osman, Arteta, Pienaar and Donovan and not a hard working, destructive player among them. Maybe we don't need to fear attacking them as much as we do.
