Palace had never any intention of buying him anyhow...they just wanted some extra body upfront...at least they'll have to pay the wages until the end of the season...next year he will probably end up on loan somewhere else.
I think insurance pays the wages to long term injuries.

Stolen from another post. Looks like he will be on his way back and back on the payroll

As per the terms of the loan agreement struck in early January, his parent club are expected to cover the player’s wages through any lengthy period of rehabilitation. Indeed, should the severity of the injury be confirmed, the loan may simply be cancelled.
Didn't we have to pay that Man city defenders wages( can't remember his name) for the season when he got injured first game? Though that's what it said at the time

Maybe thats part of the negotations. We were desperate to get him off the wage bill and probably hoped he wouldnt pick up a serious injury...... Obviously Brands and Moshiri havent experienced 'Everton that' syndrome yet.

Disaster, utter disaster. No transfer fee to boost our kitty, and he’ll be here for two more years?
We have been crippled with bad injuries recently. Tocsun, Coleman, McCarthy, Gomes, Gbamin. Unreal.
