Realistically in light of all the shocking revelations to come out about operation banner including the continued support of soldier F who shot a disabled man in the back any everton player wearing a poppy should also be sacked, right?

it's not like he's invaded Syria himself with a gun and grenades isit, he's just showing support for his countries troops ( rightly or wrongly )

all that politics doesn't bother me in the slightest when it comes to footy, what bothers me is he's a slug and picking up fat wages to sit on the bench

stop being such a drama queen
Drama queen?!

Very amusing. Of course war is no big drama. Neither is people offering tacit support for unjust wars.

Yeah I'm a drama queen. I'm glad that your humanitarian concerns go no further than the fact that he costs Everton football club a tonne of undeserved money - which could be said for most of our squad. Well done for doubling down Trump/Johnson style - ignoring any genuine issues or concerns of others and using a pejorative term for people voicing genuine concerns.

Class act you.

Tosun isn't part of any war, any humanitarian concerns he's just supporting his troops, again rightly or wrongly.

offended by everything people these days

Always falls into my way of thinking Tosun does.

People are quick to say he isn't good enough. But then he never plays. When he does it's in a poor performing team that isn't designed for his style and therefore he can't overperform as a result.

Same with a lot of other players before him like klassen, vlasic etc.

Fans are quick to write them off despite hardly seeing them play but then complain that the players ahead of them are not good enough.

For me, I'd start him absolutely over lewen. When your main source of goals isn't scoring then try another. If he doesn't play well then he has done as well as the last one. I'd even give niasse a go if need be , until we find one that chips in with goals.

And to think people were glad we sold 20 plus goals Lukaku, because his goals weren't important.

....regardless of the player, I never get this ‘the team don’t play to his style’, or ‘he only plays in a poor performing team’. Footballers still get possession of a football on a football pitch, they have an opportunity to do something.

Not sure what system we’d have to play for Tosun. He’s slow and immobile. His link up play is ordinary. If he’s involved in exchanges on the half-way line, we’d need to break slowly to enable him to hit the box. Folk talk of him as a great finisher, but he missed proper chances when given the opportunity last season.

Any CB in this league would be delighted at the prospect of facing Tosun. I’m sure every CB in this league would prefer to mark him than DCL. We need better than DCL. DCL is better than Tosun. Steve Walsh recruited Tosun.

Regardless of politics, this fella is very ordinary.

spot on, i choose not to wear a poppy for the reasons i gave above but i have no issue with others who do

I love that the response from some to those of us that are appalled by this is 'get a life'.

So to get a life in this instance is to ignore a deepening humanitarian crisis and the actions of a despot, being supported by a player who sports our club badge and just get behind the lad and chill and enjoy some footy.

Absolute nonsense. We have had plenty of players who have done things of which I have disapproved, but never before something like this. It is not virtue signalling, it is not making a mountain out of a mole hill. What he has done is wrong. And if people on here want to absolve both themselves and Tosun of thinking of it any more deeply, by merely claiming that he is just supporting the troops, then shame on them too.

I have never once booed an Everton player. If I haven't liked them for something they've done, the way they've played or their attitude, I've just sat there quietly not cheering or some such. That has changed with this, this goes even further. I will be utterly livid to see him ever pull on our shirt again. We are all very quick to praise the club for having a good heart and getting things right when it comes to community etc. Yet here they are silent. It's just not on.

Do I think its a disgrace? Yes. I just dont like the faux outrage as he's one of our players - as opposed to a random Turkish bloke. People are more outraged by him than they are at what Erdogan is doing.

If he didnt play for us, most wouldnt care, which to me is the more pressing issue

People who give the example of St Pauli should know that it is a club where the supports have strong ties to Kurdish nationalist movement, I ve been to Hamburg and St Pauli, they were sound even though I told them about my Turkish origin, but yeah they definitely are different. Saw lots of PKK banners. They are very political and vocal about the issue. So it was rather easy and necessary decision by the club, to protect the player's well being as well. Them being in second division and the player in question being worthless also helps.

Speaking of German clubs; Düsseldorf who sent Kaan Ayhan (https://www.transfermarkt.com/kaan-ayhan/profil/spieler/119031) and Kenan Karaman (https://www.transfermarkt.com/kenan-karaman/profil/spieler/119557) to the NT won't do such thing. Same with AC Milan re. Calhanoglu or Leicester re. Soyuncu. Every single player did it, it wasn't isolated to Tosun. If he refused, he would have seen as a traitor at home. Point is; elite clubs don't release good players. Fine or verbal warning possible.

Tosun already wasn't successful convincing Silva of being a better player than DCL, even before this episode, it won't change until he leaves. With the new manager things may be different (he may have a chance) but his Everton stay won't be affected by the gesture, rather the pitch performance.
