this must be option B of Ste Mbia?

No way I can see us bidding that kind of cash on a DM if Mbia is coming in aswell.

M'bia is only about £8-9mill, why get second best to save a few mill? Oh sorry we've already done that with Moutinho.(y)

Hitting SSN now they are reporting its a loan deal:

Everton are closing in on the capture of Ecuador international midfielder Segundo Castillo.

The Toffees have confirmed they have struck a deal with Red Star Belgrade for the 26-year-old.
Castillo undertook a trial with Blackburn in the summer and impressed, although Rovers failed to agree terms with the hard-working midfielder.

Everton boss David Moyes has now pounced for the Ecuador international after failing with moves for the likes of Albert Riera and Tiago.

Castillo will now travel to Merseyside to undergo a medical within the next 24 hours.
Skysports.com understands The Toffees have secured Castillo's services initially on loan with a view to a permanent next summer.

Should Everton land the Ecuadorian international it would be the club's second signing in a week following the arrival of Lars Jacobsen.

By George I think he`s got it ! Moyes that is.
Having now accumulated a possible four right backs he has moved on to where we really need replacements. I have also heard that Moutinho has landed at John Lennon Airport........JOKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last figure I heard was £10mill and Rennes still weren't budging. there was no telling if we upped our bid if Rennes would have let him go in time for the medical and work permit checks to be completed.

They were always very relunctant sellers, Probably worse then sporting because Rennes targets change. At this point it's probably better to negotiate with Red Star because they are interested in selling Castillo.

He's decent enough on Football Manager put it that way. Better than Carsley and Jags as a DM.........

(*its only a game, its only a game, its only a game*)

As long as he positions well, knows how to tackle, hold the ball, be comfortable, consistant, works hard, can look up and pass -- I'll be happy.

There's not many great Defensive Mid's in football today, and they go for silly prices. Hopefully Moyes has found a mini-diamond.

We'll be lucky if we can land Neil Lennon at this rate.

The potential upside of Castillo being rejected by Blackburn is 'wtf does Ince know?' . OK so he saved one league 2 side from relegation and gained promotion for another. If it was a given that lower league success automatically translated upwards, two years ago England would have been defending the WC under Dario Gradi.

Full name :
Segundo Alejandro Notmoutinho Notm'bia Castillo Nazareno

See there's us all thinking he meant the OTHER mouthino...

Also for those 'inspired' by his Blackburn trial. Read the small print before you start moaning 'he's not good enough for BBurn' etc.

"Castillo linked up with Blackburn Rovers of the English Premier League on trial but did not sign after failing to agree terms with Blackburn after impressing on trial."
