The SUV market has exploded in the UK in recent years, over 1/3 of the total market is now SUV's - but far from all of them are 4 wheel drive. People seem to like the higher driving position and the fact that they feel more solid I think. Are four wheel drives getting more popular in the uk or are they still the domain of d1ckheads? About half the cars in Australia now are 4 wd’s (or SUV as some have started calling them.)

Nah, way older is what mine is, no dosh for that.
I’ve had that discussion with a few friends who have bought them, they all say they like the higher position and claim it is safer because they can see further ahead. I point out that because they have a higher car, if I am behind them, they have stopped me from seeing ahead so it is more dangerous as I can only react to what they do. Nothing worse than being behind a 4wd which suddenly stops because they haven’t noticed a bus that has stopped right ahead of them. The SUV market has exploded in the UK in recent years, over 1/3 of the total market is now SUV's - but far from all of them are 4 wheel drive.
