Apparently the oil pump failed and caused the engine to seize. Garage sayin the engine's knackered and need to get a new/replacement one but there are places that reckon they can 'recondition' the engine for half the price and it'll be like new

Aye it's not nice. They are places that can recondition it but it's fidgety so it still costs quite a bit (not as much as a new one, mind).

Just looking at a few cuz it's second hand.

What car is it mate ?.

You can get most engines for popular cars from companies that specialise in just this sort of thing mate.

They get low mileage engines from right offs and then sell them on.

Some companies will even fit the "new" engine for you and take your old one a part ex ( they recon it never sell it on ).

There's a masive breakers yard in Doncaster called - Motor Hog, who are a good example of prices that you'd expect to pay.

It's an Insignia mate. Apparently the problem with mine is a common one and so replacement engines are supposedly quite rare hence the expensive price. They have one on Motor Hog for £1100 plus vat

Have a hunt around the various sites - Ebay may be worth a look too.

A mate got a second hand low mileage Mondeo engine from a garage in Widnes, supply and fit for just under 500.
 
Seat belt receiver for our military 3 Astra 1997 took an age to get one from a scrapyard mate fitted it for us what a part you need and Labour!
Seat out etc just to fit a vital mot part on your seat!
