The Subaru GT-86 (BR-Z) is better equipped here in the states and will have a better resale value.

I loved the old Supras and MR2s, but those days are long gone.

Define "better equipped"...the cars are mechanically identical, apart from some slight suspension tweaking. If you're talking about the extra 5 grand for heated seats, climate control and a push button start then you love to waste money on nonsense.

The days of the Supra are not gone...in fact, they're just heating up again:

Need a bit of advice lads. Got a new job last week, and as part of the package I get a company car.

Choice between a BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and a Mercedes C Class.

Any suggestions on which one to go for? (As you can probably tell, my car knowledge isn't exactly the best)

The best thing to do would be to try them all out and see which one you like best.

Both loaded they are the same price, but on the Subaru you get a Nav system and a couple other things I think. Subaru's low end model is 27K vs. 25.7K for the Scion so it is cheaper on the lower end.

It would be nice if they could bring the supra back. With the world pretty much catching up to them on reliablity they are going to have to stop making appliances like the Corolla or in a generation or 2 they are going to see companies like Hyuandi leave them in their wake.

Well in mate! I hope I have a similar situation when next looking for a job!

If you're going for looks alone then I'd say the C Class is the best. The BMW probably drives the best but they'll be very similar I'd imagine. Go to the dealerships and try them out if you can.

Avoid the C class, they're mince

The other 2 are close IMO. I'd probably say the 3 series just edges it, depending on which model you're allowed to have

I have a 3 series, decent motor. Never driven any of the others.

The old C Class's were mince, but not the new ones.

In fact, I would probably get the C Class, as it is within 80% of the BeeEm in terms of sheer driving enjoyment, but it looks about a bazillion percent better.

I had a C300 as a rental in my last job (it cost me $5 a day to upgrade to it) for a week. So I got myself an extended test drive.

Hmm. Interesting. I don't start til a week tomorrow, so i might take a wander round some dealerships and take the three for a test drive.

I'd imagine all three will be amongst the lower end models.

Audi offers better value for money, slightly better spec. BMW offer slightly better driving experience.

On balance I would go for the Audi

This is true Stateside, not sure about in Europe. Over here, the Cadillac ATS is pretty close to those three and can be had for significantly less cash. So could maybe score some brownie points with the new boss by saving him/her a bit of money?

Very possible that the price advantage could disappear across the pond though, having trouble finding numbers to prove or disprove the theory.

I paid 24,800 for mine...4k cheaper than the Subaru at the time. Only diff is what I've already mentioned and the fact that the Subaru's had/have a lower production run so that jacked the prices up. The loaded Scions were not much different in price and they had nav with the bespoke audio system. On the initial runs the only real main difference was the push button start and climate control. Scion added that with the 10 series later on which, incidentally, they were charging the same price for as the Subaru.

You don't buy this car for luxury, it's a pure sports car built for handling...so paying out the nose for those things is insanity, IMHO. You were/are much better off getting a base Scion and pumping 4k in to tires (sorry, tyres! :P) and whatever other performance upgrades (or aftermarket head units etc) you can as the car just gets better and better with that kind of love. This is strictly the North American market though, as there was even less of a difference between the two everywhere else in the world where it's under the Toyota name. Same car though...all built by Subaru in the same factory, despite what badge is on it.

Nah, it's a straight choice between those three models - my employers have a deal with the leasing company
