The Tesla BlueStar project interests me greatly. Supposed to be a A4/3-Series level all-electric car, priced to be around $35k USD and a target range of 200 miles. 2016 is the target date

Obviously it's completely theoretical at this point, but having one of those in addition to like a winter/long distance petrol vehicle sounds appealing.

Love the Tesla. Would splash some cash on that if I had it to spare...

Well, honestly, first I'd buy a Mooney, then the Tesla, but still...

It wouldn't really have much of an environmental impact for me, since most of the electricity up here is either coal or natural gas, but even then the running cost is so, so much lower than a traditional car.

The longest trip I take with any regularity is to Madison about 90 miles away. For any cross-country type trips you could always rent a car, too. I think a 200 mile range would cover 95% of the trips I do.

I've got a couple of Peugeot 205 GTI's at the mo, an 87 phase 1 and a 91 phase 2 both 1.6's with the pepper pot alloys. One is in White and the other in black which I bought on eBay for £350 with a blown head gasket as a spares car. When I collected it it had been garaged for about 8 years, the body work was immaculate apart from a laquer bloom on the paint work. The interior was really good as well apart from the seats. In the end I saved up and had the head skimmed and the valves and stems replaced. It's in the spray shop this week for a full respray, can't wait to get it back. It's a good time to buy one as they are getting rare and the values are starting to go up, I hate buying cars that end up wort nothing after a few years, No tax in a couple of years and only £230 per year for classic car insurance is pretty decent.

The main issues with electric cars at the moment seems to be 1. The battery life and range and 2. The time it takes to re-charge the battery. I like the idea too though.

That's the re-make they did of it, pretty sure the price tag was something insane though

I was watching Pawn Stars a few weeks back and some bloke had a Cobra Chassis, literally just the bare chassis, they took it to some expert who verified it was genuine and the chassis alone went for about $50,000. They did it up and it looked amazing, great looking and sounding car.

Ha, saw that episode myself, the guys were over the moon weren't they? Was it the Texas one too and they were all

"AAAWWWWW HELL YEAHHH"

*shoots gun in air repeatedly*

I thought it was the original Vegas one but you might be right, they spent thousands doing it up and sold it for something like £120k. I've also got a mild addiction to that Counting Cars programme as well now.

I liked that Counting Cars programme too. I love all the trash on the History Channel, I don't have it anymore though as I was scavving it off my mate through Sky Player but can't get it now.

Need a bit of advice lads. Got a new job last week, and as part of the package I get a company car.

Choice between a BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and a Mercedes C Class.

Any suggestions on which one to go for? (As you can probably tell, my car knowledge isn't exactly the best)

Supra??? The old AE86??? Celica GT-4??? IS300? LFA??? GT86??

There are plenty of awesome Toyota's out there. Their run-of-the-mill cars are the ones that are soulless.

The GT-86 is a Scion FR-S in the states. Its probably an good car, but has kind of bland styling. The Subaru GT-86 (BR-Z) is better equipped here in the states and will have a better resale value. The Celica is a Scion tC and its garbage.

I loved the old Supras and MR2s, but those days are long gone. Here in the states you get a choice of Avalon, Rav4, Land Cruiser, Yaris, Corolla, Tacoma, Camry, 4 Runner, and Prius.

Sadly the only cars that have any personality are the Land Cruiser which is impractical, and the Prius (which may not have the personality you want, but at least it has one).

Honda is guilty of the same thing. Of the Japanese manufactures only Mazda actually tries to put some personality in a car today. Subaru (though the Forester went from cool hybrid SUV to fat SUV for fat american behinds and the Impreza didn't really update their look) and Nissan sometimes do.
