Honestly if they try to complete this season after any more than a 3 month gap I think i'll pack in with going and paying for TV. Not in a seeing my arse way, just because i'll have no interest in it. Leaving it that long and then 90% of the games being dead rubbers would be ridiculous. Apart from the obvious I can't even remember where everyone is in the league, i've genuinely got no interest in the rest of this season, even less so if the games are behind closed doors.
Going the game is a habit. Once you've broken it it's quite easy to give it a miss. If a new season started i'd get that little bit of hope that I always do so i'd probably buy another season ticket. If they restart the league from where we left off then it'll likely be 12 months since I went to a game by the time there's a meaningful game on. I doubt i'll be that bothered about going by that stage.
Agree with you there , collectively there are too many fans I reckon who support teams with little to play for and wouldnt support a “complete the season at all costs” approach. Like you said too much time would have passed before a meaningful game came around for them so interest would wain. Thats a hell of a gamble for Sky and PL parasites. I can see footballers having to take a paycut. Recontracts all around possibly even salary caps or something. Cant see the sponsorship amounts and Tv contracts being the same once it kicks off again. They are dragging out the decision to cancel this season purely for money reasons . The later they do it the closer they are to a restart if that makes sense. Money talks and this will determine the decision. Not people health or lives. The PL have proved this already in their approach.
