Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

Prayers needed please lads. As a few will know I posted a few weeks ago on this thread about the irrelevance of finishing this season in the context of the COVID impact on our ordinary family with some members voluntarily serving on frontline in NHS. Well our worst fears are now with us for real. My sister in law was diagnosed with COVID earlier this week at the Cheshire hospital where she works. Her condition has worsened dramatically since. She’s a mum of 2 young evertonians and she’s super fit and healthy. Paramedics treated her today and so now it’s over to Mother Nature and prayers for next 48 hours.
Fingers crossed she makes it mate

Thoughts with you and you,your family and most important your sister in law,I work at the Walton Centre and am seeing people each day progressing through this horrific disease and coming out the other side and going home, keep all positive thoughts if at all possible mate.

Really hope she comes through it evo1978, my brother's a doctor in Newcastle's main hospital for treating Covid-19 patients and we live in daily fear of him going down with it, seems inevitable and just a matter of time - this is really awful for you - I hope the rest of the family keeps safe, god willing.

Honestly if they try to complete this season after any more than a 3 month gap I think i'll pack in with going and paying for TV. Not in a seeing my arse way, just because i'll have no interest in it. Leaving it that long and then 90% of the games being dead rubbers would be ridiculous. Apart from the obvious I can't even remember where everyone is in the league, i've genuinely got no interest in the rest of this season, even less so if the games are behind closed doors.

Going the game is a habit. Once you've broken it it's quite easy to give it a miss. If a new season started i'd get that little bit of hope that I always do so i'd probably buy another season ticket. If they restart the league from where we left off then it'll likely be 12 months since I went to a game by the time there's a meaningful game on. I doubt i'll be that bothered about going by that stage.

Great post my feelings too (and so many I've read along the same lines), it just doesn't seem right to even contemplate watching football right now - couldn't care less if they don't play until 2021 (and definitely don't restart - I envisage a formula with playoffs where there's clearly a problem rather than voiding)

Good post and exactly how I feel about it. I've had a season ticket at City since 1984 and first started watching them in 1968.
Like a lot of people I have become increasingly disillusioned with football in the last 4 years or so and go as it is a very old habit
and some screwed up sense of loyalty. I have come very close to kicking it into touch in the last few years but never have. But
this could be the deal breaker. I just could not be doing with watching any games behind closed doors on TV regardless
of who is playing and as you say, once you break the habit you break it. Football and in particular the PL have shown themselves up
for what they are and what they stand for. For me the spell is now broken. Even if I do renew I don't think I would ever be as committed
or as passionate as I have been previously. So why bother?

Thanks mate. We’ve been dreading it for weeks. Deterioration was so sudden as well. I hope for your family your brother comes thru this physically and mentally ok.

Best wishes for your sister in law mate.

Not being funny mate, but you support the best team probably in world football right now. Your winning titles, domestic cups and playing some of the best football the country has seen since Arsenal in their pomp.

You have the most coveted manager in world football and are always favourites to win the Champions League, which you might still win this season if it ever returns. You made history under a year ago by winning a unique domestic treble.

You have virtually any player in world football wanting to join you and you can afford them.

Yet all you seem to do is moan about how awful it is.

This is the greatest era in Man City's history. Why not sit back, and enjoy it?

Because it is football that is ruined, not Man City. The Premier League is a horror show of greed. I haven’t watched a game as a neutral in 10 years.

No way am I clicking that.
@OliverKay
If Premier League decided by points per game
* Sheff Utd would go from 7th to 6th, leapfrogging Wolves
* Arsenal would go from 9th to 8th, finishing above Spurs for first time in four years
Otherwise unchanged
* Liverpool 1st
* Bournemouth, Norwich, Villa still in relegation zone

@martynziegler
Hearing UEFA's executive committee has just decided that if leagues do not finish then qualification for Champions League/Europa League should be on sporting merit (which sounds like points per game)

That's inherently not fair.

Not everyone has played the same teams yet. It's a ridiculous idea.
