Honestly if they try to complete this season after any more than a 3 month gap I think i'll pack in with going and paying for TV. Not in a seeing my arse way, just because i'll have no interest in it. Leaving it that long and then 90% of the games being dead rubbers would be ridiculous. Apart from the obvious I can't even remember where everyone is in the league, i've genuinely got no interest in the rest of this season, even less so if the games are behind closed doors.
Going the game is a habit. Once you've broken it it's quite easy to give it a miss. If a new season started i'd get that little bit of hope that I always do so i'd probably buy another season ticket. If they restart the league from where we left off then it'll likely be 12 months since I went to a game by the time there's a meaningful game on. I doubt i'll be that bothered about going by that stage.
Good post and exactly how I feel about it. I've had a season ticket at City since 1984 and first started watching them in 1968.
Like a lot of people I have become increasingly disillusioned with football in the last 4 years or so and go as it is a very old habit
and some screwed up sense of loyalty. I have come very close to kicking it into touch in the last few years but never have. But
this could be the deal breaker. I just could not be doing with watching any games behind closed doors on TV regardless
of who is playing and as you say, once you break the habit you break it. Football and in particular the PL have shown themselves up
for what they are and what they stand for. For me the spell is now broken. Even if I do renew I don't think I would ever be as committed
or as passionate as I have been previously. So why bother?
