Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

There is no way any of the bottom 6 are going to settle for a game every 3 days behind closed doors and face the chance of relegation.

They'll be united in ensuring that the season isn't finished; securing their place in the league for another year and all that money that comes with it.

EPL will announce the cancellation at the end of April, please calm down, obviously they can’t announce now as it ‘looks’ like they still have time to pull it of. Patience.

What’s this talk I heard on the radio earlier that Italy plan to restart the league next month albeit behind closed doors? If Italy and then Spain decide to restart the league then I can only see the premier league following suit unfortunately.

I was thinking that myself. How will Pep Guardiola feel about resuming after recently losing his mother to the virus?
If he goes against it then so does the whole of the club 100%.
What happens then?
we know that this virus affects people's lungs, no one knows whether any of this damage is permanent or lasting a significant length of time. A pro player's career could be ended because their lungs don't function properly afterwards but as long as the RS get their pot. Oh, and players or staff may die too, this thing can get fit healthy people too. Give it up FFS

I think with the money seemingly looking a bit more secured (clubs will receive most - if not all) from the TV deals, i think you'll begin to see a sharp change in direction of the clubs.

With money secured, the only real teams who would look to scrap it and start again would surely be

Liverpool, Leicester, Wolves, Sheffield Utd, Man Utd?

Chelsea would have CL
Spurs would have CL
VIlla, Norwich, Bournemouth, Brighton, West Ham all stay up.
Everyone else gets their players safe.

Personally don't care what happens, but i want lockdown as long as possible to make sure lives are saved. If they get given a title, then sound.

Problem is football isnt just the Prem, reading an article before on the BBC website,13 clubs in the Championship pay more in wages than they take in,Luton who are one of the better run clubs will lose around 15% of their income if they dont play the remaining games, whichever way it goes lots of clubs will disappear

Unfortunately so, and it's horrible to think, it really is. People will lose what they love, but the reality is, clubs can reestablish in the lower leagues if they have to, people can't come back to life. That's how i see it.

Without doubt Barney,I dont think theres any easy way out for clubs, dont think we will see football for a long while yet,if that saves one life then its a small price to pay

I've voted to void.

Interesting that it's RS pundits who are most eager to play on.

You can't use current positions. Villa have a game in hand. Win and they are out of the bottom three.

This festival of football idea is nonsense. Teams lose their home advantage and it would involve hundreds if not thousands of people from the emergency services. You'd also get thousands outside the stadiums.

The PL clubs won’t even consider the Championship clubs whatsoever when making the decision.

Virtually every club will be thinking of nothing more than what suits them.

The Luton chairman has already came out and said he thinks it should be voided as well.

Thats been the narrative throughout it all,TV and the premier league, absolutely nothing about the lower leagues or peoples health, everything is money based while the game is kept in limbo,it's obvious there will be no mass gatherings at the very least until next year so make a call either void or say it will be finished

Realistic options (not pie in the sky):

1. Accept no professional sport of any significance will take place until much later this year at the earliest and void the season.
2. Rename it the 2020/2022 season and finish it next Spring IF public health is in a stable position. Though this raises a myriad of questions on contract expiry etc.
