Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

The Belgian Pro League board has proposed the immediate conclusion of the country's football season, per
@HLN_BE
. It would make Belgium the first European country to officially end its top-flight season, and crown Club Brugge champions.
I've seen the phrase "accept the current league table as final", which is not necessarily the same thing as crowning a champion.

Brugge had already won it, apparently. No problem with that.

The difference with the Prem is that no team has won it, so it can't be automatically awarded.
Apparently Belgium have play offs to decide the overall winner, so they hadn't actually won it yet. Worst case scenario, if England follows their precedent the rs get to be the asterix champions

What is this? This is in Mr Ancelotti's tweets.

I was not happy today anyway due to other circumstances but now I am bloody livid.

Can we not tweet back or get our percentage up somehow?

(I do not really understand tweet etiquette.)
It just means 57% of Newcastle fans have a small penis, compared to 43% of Everton fans. Since you are livid, i can only surmise you are one of the 43%

That cant happen as they havent technically won it. Plus if they award Liverpool the league, then Leeds would want to be given the same award - which comes with auto promotion, but who gets relegated?

By making that 1 decision, it has a massive domino effect on teams. The 2 options are finish it or void it, nothing in between otherwise their would be lawsuits all over the place.

The problem the English league has, esp the PL and Championship is that there is stupid amounts of money involved.

Club Brugge weren't guaranteed the title.

They were guaranteed to finish top before the playoffs. Which is, at least, a fair way to decide it if you have to. Theres a natural endpoint where everybody has played the same number of games, theres one game to the end of the regular season and they're 15 points clear.

Nobody is complaining in the press today, at least.

Edit: The other playoff teams agreed it, my Brugge supporting friend tells me (in his ridiculous west Flemish accent)

I say do it. So the RS would be drawn against who, the club in 4th in a semi-final? Given their recent form they’d hopefully get knocked out. The fume would be incredible.

And the winners in the season where football was made an absolute mockery due to the way VAR was used. The 'VAR assisted, asterix champions'. Who'd have ever thought that when they were on course to break all kinds of records.....

I'd like to see the legal justification that would have to be released for Liverpool to be awarded the league title without actually mathematically winning it. Even being extremely charitable to them, it's not like they're just one win away from securing the title.

Some sports have actual rules that cover such eventualities - i.e. - if a F1 GP doesn't got the full distance, the leading driver is still awarded full points and the win if 75% of the race's completed. No such rule exists in the Premier League. Therefore there is no legal justification to award Liverpool the league.

And why would the team in first place be awarded the title, but the 3 relegation zone dwellers not relegated? It has to be consistent across the board otherwise it is totally unfair. It would also have a knock-on effect to the rest of the professional football league system. Would Leeds be automatically crowded Champions of the EFL Championship - and if they were, how would they be promoted if no one from the PL is relegated?
; Don't worry about it; thousands of people are dying. Football means nothing.

As long as the prem is voided (all results expunged)...

The thing with Belgium is, they have declared anyone who has mathematically won something as having a trophy of sorts, but wherever there was a mathematical possibly of an event occurring, it was voided. I suspect that will be the same approach adopted in every country.
But Bruges are being awarded the title without actually winning it? So,what your saying is not correct.
