Can we realistically go on a decent run?

20 goal a season strikers are quite rare mate. In the last 5 seasons City and Spurs have had Aguero and Kane. But the other top 6 clubs haven't done as well. Liverpool have managed it twice with Salah and the Rat. Chelsea twice through Costa. Arsenal once with Sanchez. And United haven't had a 20 goal striker at all.

I'm not saying that we don't need an upgrade on Tosun (who isn't as bad as some n here make out by the way) but we can certainly break into the top 6 without having a 20 a season striker provided the other players all chip in. Players like Richarlison, Siggy and Walcott all have it in them to bring in 10/15 goals a season.

Agreed mate and good post, but when you look at the teams you mentioned they are all the CL teams that the difference and we have aspirations of it we will need a consistent quality goal scorer.

They dont come cheap and one of those things you cant scrimp on, you just need to invest 60 -80 mill and do it in my opinion.

I wonder if we beat United would Jose be sacked...

Interesting point.
Could somebody please see if the grim reaper is available for that game.

Next five games we can get 10 points from. That would put us top 7 maybe even top 6 if things work out. Then we'd be into the winter and the teams above us will have European games (and LC games maybe) coming thick and fast until mid-December.

If we get players fit and continue to improve I can honestly see us top 5/6 coming up to Christmas. But we'll need a very good attacker in during January to not fall away badly in the new year.

Nice to see you being positive mate !
Things are being more professionally done by the Blues now , new players all looking good , and Mina and Gomes still to come.
Things looking up !

Agree with the first bit. It isn't just a winning mentality either, you could argue that we have leadership issues on the pitch and tend to be at our most vulnerable when we've just conceded. Heads go down and apart from Pickford there doesn't seem to be anybody able to or ready to take on the responsibility of rallying the troops. I really thought Williams was going to bring those leadership qualities but he just treated us as a retirement home.

But apart from their 2 strikers, I'm happier with our overall squad than theirs. I'm not saying that we'll finish above them or Spurs or United. What I'm saying is that the gap between us and those teams is being bridged, and you can say the same with the likes of Leicester, Wolves, West Ham, Bournemouth and Watford too, and possibly even Palace.

I really think that City, Chelsea and the RS will be clear at the top, and the gap between the other 3 teams and ourselves and the ones mentioned above will be a lot closer than in recent years.

I agree totally re City , Chelsea and unfortunately the RS (who I think will be second). That said , I think that we are nailed on for at least 7th , and will also be well clear of the likes of Leicester , Wolves , West Ham , Bournemouth and Watford.
The intrigue revolves around, that Arsenal always have a soft centre , Tottenham are well managed but haven't invested , and Man U , despite getting loads of refereeing going their way, are really badly managed , and possibly are divided in the dressing room.
With our recent acquisitions settling in, and us improving , this may get interesting

Got to beat Palace and Brighton and just a good performance at Old Trafford would be nice, even tho they have been awful they do still have a few top players

We could and should to be honest. Silva seems quite cautious and methodical with his lineup changes in the league. The front four looked great the last game and Keane and Zouma are forming a decent partnership (albeit one where Keane still has absolutely no pace). We will need to go on a run to be top half at the end of the first half of the fixtures.

zaha does scare me like, good player him, theyre crud other than him though
He’ll tear Kenny to pieces if we’re honest. He’s better than Filipe Anderson, and he made Kenny look terrible. Considering Kenny struggled mightily with Pereria, Zaha will be salivating. Not a knock on Kenny, he’s just not at a level to defend good wingers.
