No, that is true.

But the problems on the pitch certainly do.

I disagree with that actually. In fact as dire as the football has been recently its still better than it was under Koeman or Unsy earlier in the season. There just seems to be a combination of a lack of confidence and a lack of being arsed that permeates through the squad with very few exceptions (e.g. Coleman, Jags, Walcott, Tosun, Niasse...)

There is no doubt that Sam did well at times with Bolton, but the Premier League was a vastly different place back then, hell it was called the Premiership for starters. Many of the teams that are big now did not have the money nor the playing resources they do these days such as Chelsea or Man City for instance. The game has moved on dramatically since then and Sam has never really moved with it. Just look at Wenger as an example, a genius in those first 10 years, but any Arsenal fan will tell you he has never really changed his format or moved on through the times hence why they struggled to ever win the league again.

Can't really disagree with you in many respects, especially with there being more teams that are "in the money" (although Chelsea won the league the year Sam finished 6th with Bolton). The fact you bring up Wenger is interesting. I actually think the biggest issue with Arsenal over past decade has been a lack of a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room and overall a weak mentality. I think this is something we suffer from as well (with the exception perhaps of Coleman).

WE have the players to form a very good team, with the right tactics, The tactics under Allardyce will never work for our players.
We have quite alot of pace in the squad but its never used correctly, Walcott and Bolasie are both fast, along with Coleman and Lookman, but of cource Lookmans out on loan

..lack of athleticism in central midfield and central defence means we have to play deep, once players are beaten there is no chance of recovery. I’m afraid we’re in a bit of a mess with this squad.

The problem is, we don't play possession football, in fact we play anti possession football, We just hoof it away constantly, yes we need a bit more in midfield but Davies does proved that, as would Vlasic but he doesn't play him
