I don't come on these forums that much these days, and now i remember why. So much negativity. So much eagerness to disrespect the players and management. So many unrealistic expectations and nonobjective analysis about games that are won or lost in a moment or two of fickle fortune.
It's the same old typical response from too many Evertonians that we're either world beaters or we're awful; there's no acceptable middle ground.

Yesterday was disappointing if not frustrating and clearly it is a game that we should be aiming to win, but football regularly throws up surprises.

Equally, I'm not oblivious to the fact that we've not won in the last five games which itself is a concern and something that must be addressed.

Yet, for some on here it's almost like we're in a relegation fight! Let's be clear, we're still sixth and only five points from the top of the league.

We're also only nine games in with three quarters of a season to go so claiming the season is over is nothing short of cringe worthy naivety.

And for those criticising Koeman: yes some of the football still needs overhauling, but how long has he actually been here? What do people expect?

He needs both time and money to develop the squad, remove the shackles and rid the negative mentality that's become entrenched in our ranks.

If you want instant success then I think people should consider their support...

Spot on. It's good to know that there are some on here who have their heads screwed on.

Sorry Phil, if you're not going to throw your toys out of the pram and cry after losing, you have no place on this forum

Well said. I've just been accused of being a North Korean orthodoxy in another thread for being positive.

I mean....

Burnley fan based in Liverpool. Sadly, too close to Anfield for my liking but enjoyed beating them 2-0 and gloating about it the next day. First off. You're THE BEST team to come to Turf Moor this season. It may not seem like it after a defeat, in which all fairness; you deserved a point from at least. If it cheers you up any, Liverpool were pish poor and we made them look that way. Your lot had more dimension to your game and caused us more problems in the first five minutes than they did in 90+ minutes.
I have a lot of time for Everton. You're not a club like Liverpool who go on a relatively successful ten or so years and think they have a God given right to the title. It doesn't suit you to start thinking that way. You have a lot of admirers at Burnley and beyond for not taking that approach. Let's face it. Liverpool FC is just an after thought of the original founders (along with us) of the football league.
I have no time for the red half of the city and their constant whining about 'This is our year' crap and thinking they are better than anyone else. Lets not forget, the money they borrowed on tick almost caused them to go bust as recently as 2010.
I digress. To be fair, you played well. I have to admit, I said to my fiancee that if we actually got the ball down and played it through your defence, you were there for the taking. Jagielka was a real weak point.
Yes we do play a style of football that leaves many Clarets fans less than happy ourselves. This season is about maintaining our Premier League status. If you ask older generations of Everton fans about our great sides of the 50's and 60's; they'll remind you younger ones that we are well known for playing it on the deck. We've had a rough number of years, which could have happened to any club. We haven't sold out to foreigners, we haven't gone away from our basic belief in that if you work hard enough, you'll get your just rewards. We're in the Premier League on merit and although the football isn't great. We don't have any billionaire benefactor to go and buy players at will. We work within our means.
Swings and roundabouts in this league. We should have got at least a point against Arsenal and lost to a highly controversial injury time goal. Your lot outplayed us for most (not all) of the game and deserved something. As stated at the beginning. You were the best team we faced at Turf Moor this season. Physically, creatively more of a threat than any of the others. Results even themselves out over the season. Arguably we deserved a draw at least against Arsenal and deserved to beat Watford by more than 2.
One other thing to remember is we're not LITTLE OLD BURNLEY. We're founder members of the league along with you. The only difference is that our fortunes dipped in the 70's and 80's and suffered through that. We're a big club catching up. Belittling our club is unbecoming to you as you're supposed to be better than that. I yearn for us to be able to field a team that can play the ball on the deck as we are well known for from our glory years. That will come in time. Remember the Joe Royle - Dogs of War? One of the reasons I followed you as a second team back in the day was because of your determination with a lesser team than others.
Watching the game live I thought you looked lively. Best team to play us at our Gaff. Although you need to take your chances and with our keeper, you really were not going to. He is without doubt the best keeper in England at present. Watching it on MOTD last night. Your goal was down to a mistake by us in your half and all your shots were regulation saves for a keeper as good as ours.
Good luck for the rest of the season. You'll be there or thereabouts for the top six. We'll settle on 17th place. Although, preferably with a better style of football thereafter.

....20 points ar Christmas is just about ok, anything less is a struggle. 25 points or more is positive. We looked well on course after a few games but it is amazing how things sort themselves out after 10 games or so.

I have now calmed down from my ultra fume mode but still very disappointed. Possession does not win games, goals win games. We have a £40 mill value striker and several other players valued in millions yet we cannot score. Something is not working, come on Ronald sort it.
AS the Burnley fan pointed out a bit of a weakness in central defence - Jagielka could be right on this, last game gave away two penalties which we were fortunate to survive. DaveK has singled out Jags as being one to phase out and I kind of agree on that. Why are we are not pairing Williams and Mori? Surely must have another CB some where or bring back Galloway.
