What a couple of Days They were.

Having travelled 11 hours via bus, coach, plane and more coaches, got there to glorious sunshine, the city it's self is rather quite lovely. Stayed in a hostel, and it was right outside the festivals going on last night, and that Bar Cuba, which was a laugh.

15 minutes of "we've got a diamond" at Half Time was truly wonderful, and my shoes are absolutely knackered.

As for the game, got told ironically that the match ruins the whole experience, well  that didn't quite happen did it?
They were poor, but don't knock the team there, they played impeccably, and I think all the Rom knockers will be eating humble pie, is that the same goals as Harry Kane this season now yeah?

Met some sound people, a few who post on here, so nice to meet you, and the big question is... Who do we want next?

Roma/Fyernoord naturally

I love the Greek attitude towards this. Go away, you don't even exist Macedonia.

Also see: Constantinople, never Istanbul.

haha yeah it's a brutal stance mate. There's just no debating it.

To the neutral it might be confusing but history is set in stone and cannot be altered by a few million new age displaced, ex Communists.

The internet is a fora for FYROM misinformation but they never present their case to Academia because they'll be laughed off the table. Their voices live in the shadows only.

If however by some freak of nature they are allowed to keep the name it is for U.S geopolitical reasons ONLY and nothing based in truth and will do nothing for the stability of the region. The Balkans are brutal when it comes to nationalism especially when the country is in financial ruin such as Greece. All it will do is bring in the NAZIS and nobody wants this.

I better stop talking about this as it will be considered spam very shortly !!!!!!!

I think any team left will fancy their chances going toe to toe with us so hopefully it will never be a problem that we will need to face. Plus their defenders aren't as good. Chelsea can park the bus and be effective. Could Barca?

I Gave it more thought and did consider that. I think.it will.depends what teams are left.

Don't think anyone from modern day would deny the history of Alexander's origins? Did Macedonia encompass that region delineated now? Anyhow this is an Everton thread!

In short it incorporated only Bitola (monastiri) the rest of FYROM was not part of Ancient Macedonia. Only 10% of it.

I would love to discuss this in depth but you're right, wrong place :)

Yes Both Vergina AND Pella were both the capitals of Macedonia:)

It's also where all the Macedonian royal tombs are found. Phillip II (Alexander's Father) is buried in Vergina.

Anything that has anything to do with Macedonian history is in Greece and not in FYROM. The Amphipolis Tomb is another example of this. This is because Macedonia was a Greek kingdom and not SLAVIC, Bulgarian or Serbian.

That is interesting......I thought the FYROM was the Macedonia of antiquity, from whence Alexander commenced his conquest.

But the Macedonia of Phillip and Alexander is still a Greek province or state.

I seem to recall a few years ago there was a dispute between FYROM and Greece about which country could righteously lay claim to Alexander's legacy.

I did my best to find the moment where the foul is being committed. Looks like a pretty clear DOGSO to me. The officials were far from perfect tonight, but I believe they got the Stones dismissal correct.

The point might have been made already and I'm not having a go at Jagielka because he does what any defender would do which is to run towards the goal line to try and block the shot. I just wonder though looking at that photo, had Jagielka ran towards Hoarou, Stones would not have been the last man and might not have been sent off

I used to have a Greek mate and he used to say that FYROM should be called Skopje and the name of Macedonia should refer to the Greek region only. He used to get very heated about it.
