Those appearances...

How much was he? £5m?

That is just over 113k per league appearance for Everton.

That doesn't even include his weekly wage of 24-30k.

He hasn't progressed since we signed him, he hasn't shown he can compete or replace Baines. He's a sick note. It's not just one bad injury...

Bryan Oviedo's cruel injury jinx struck again after the left-back limped out of Everton's game with Sunderland with a hamstring problem.

It was the latest in a long line of injury problems the former FC Copenhagen man has suffered during Roberto Martinez's reign.

After becoming a cult hero with Evertonians after netting the winning goal in their first victory at Old Trafford in over 21 years, Oviedo was the victim of a double leg break in an FA Cup fourth round success at Stevenage in January 2014 which cost him the chance of representing his country in the World Cup finals.

After battling back to fitness, he sustained a hamstring injury during an Under-21s derby against Liverpool in February this year before his season was ended in April with a broken metatarsal while playing for Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Oviedo returned to the Blues side in August but then spent another couple of months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Remember he went off on a stretcher at Stamford Bridge last season which was later described 'as a precaution' and he was fit again for the squad the next week! - a precaution because he's had that many injuries.

When he was getting up and down the line well and getting in the box in late 2013, he was a useful player. Since the injury he's not really been 100% fit when played, which has shown up his footballing weaknesses a bit. He's alright as a squad player.

would rather get rid boss fella and loves us and i love him just bang average gets ripped by anyone good, alright going forward but no baines even when he is out of form

I'd argue he's shown he can be very capable backup but the injuries are a big problem now. I like the guy but it might be best if we look to move him on.

I think opinions on Bryan and ALL players, need to be put on hold until Christmas, until we weigh up just what and how much, if anything, the lack of 'Martinez Factor' and a new regime has on form and fitness will show.

That said and no matter who's in charge, I wouldn't care one jot if Kone, Niasse and McGeady all left tomorrow.

I was going to give this a 'like', degsy, but I haven't seen enough of Niasse to write him off, yet.

we wont win the league(or threaten european places) with oviedo in the team, especially as a winger!

I think you're right. He's the type of player we'd of adored 10 years ago and generally most fans really like the bloke now, but he's not at the calibre we need to push into the top 4 if we're being honest. Cleverley fits into that bracket too but he's not as lovable. Decent squad player but aim higher now.

Frankly he should move to somewhere else and get first team birth but.to have squad player that is quite devoted to everton.could be a useful weapon. Don't mind either way maybe I like him too much
