Bryan Oviedo

We've been here before with Bryan

Barbarians at the gate calling for his head

Then Old Trafford happened

Bryan is a good player and fine as back up

He can tackle, he can get forward when required and he works hard for the cause

Everyone saying "he's not good enough for a top 4 team" are totally missing the point

You need a squad to win things and some guys will be the stars and some guys will be the work horses who back those stars up

Oviedo is one of the work horses

He's a good hand, and we need some of those at the moment, especially as Garbutt is still young and hasn't had the best of seasons at Fulham. He needs Oviedo there as competition so he doesn't get complacent and settle in as Baines heir apparent without earning it first

We also have literally no back up options for LM at the moment, and Bryan has the versatility to give that position a go. He just wants to play and he'll play where ever he's asked

A player with his versatility is valuable and I don't want to see him leave unless we get an excellent offer for him

I personally think Koeman is going to like him. How could you not like him?
Great post Mikey!! Love Bryan good utility player and won't complain being back up!! Works his backside off when in the team and playing left back doesn't have many poor games

I love him but he's definitely surplus at left back and I would like a higher quality back up at left mid.
Fine if we do sign a top quality left-sided player, but Oviedo is a very useful squad player at the moment. Can't think why we would think of off-loading him before a replacement is identified

Playing him at right back was the worst thing Roberto did for the lad. Really made him look much worse than he is.

He's a solid and versatile left sided player who's had to ensure injury hell and is a top, top man. Be sad to see him go. Hope he can stay on and get a chance at left back. He had some excellent performances there earlier on last season.

Why is he surplus? Baines is ageing and is struggling to shake off injuries. Galloway and Garbutt are ok at left back but Galloway isn't a specialist and both are inexperienced. Oviedo is an international left back in his prime with prem experience and can cover multiple positions. Absolutely invaluable in my eyes and should be under serious consideration for first choice left back.

Because Baines is undisputed first choice whilst I think Garbutt offers more than Oviedo. When it's time for Baines to retire we'll replace.

I think Oviedo needs to move for the sake of his career.
Before his injury he was superb, but since then he has struggled for form and not really had a consistent run in the team.
He needs to play every week and I don't think that will happen at Everton.
Good player but unlucky with injuries.

With Galloway off to Newcastle and no squad number for Garbutt are we expecting him to stay as our LB cover then?
