Under what law is running onto a football pitch illegal? Trespassing on private property perhaps? I do know that throwing flares and other missiles at a bus on a public highway is definitely illegal. And if you think my statement is "by far the dumbest thing" you have ever read on this forum then you haven't read much of it lollollollol
Fair enough pal, although I still think that trying to compare running on to the pitch to the actions of that lot on Wednesday is pretty dumb to be honest. Apples and oranges etc.Section 4 of the Football Offences Act. Which states that "It is an offence to go on to the playing area without lawful authority or excuse".
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
And to all those who think I am some sort of red in disguise. Look who started this thread in the first place!!!
In no way was I trying to defend the actions from the scuds across the park. I was simply bringing a particular bug bear of mine into the conversation as I think it demeans our club and lessens our argument when criticising other clubs supporters.

Fair comment. And of course no hard feelings, it's all a matter of opinionIn no way am I comparing the two. One is a hate filled mob intent on menace and destruction, the other is joyful over exuberance. My issue is the optics of it. There are plenty of big clubs who have been starved of success who's fans don't invade the pitch at the first significant goal. (Some do by the way).
I just think it looks cringingly bad on TV. Plain and simple.
I just worry that if and when success and European football does come back with the new stadium we will dig a hole for ourselves out of something as silly as over excitement. This may also have a negative affect on the new stadium being chosen for European finals etc.
Anyway, just my opinion. No hard feelings Pal.
I'd consider this as thuggery from a bunch of riled up knobheads buying in to their own hype as some big time wannabe ultras. A seriously detestable and sickening event? No not even close. I don't think it puts the city in a bad light in the same way that fella v Lyon doesn't reflect on the City as a whole. It reflects on Liverpool FC, the bellends responsible and Merseyside police with the former being rightfully punished for not controlling their fans.
Yes well Everton fans never waited two hours before kick off, to throw things at the opposition teams coach, like a bunch of anti social yobs!
