Thing is though, whilst it's easy to blame Kone/Naismith, the exact same thing happens - sometimes worse - when Lukaku plays too.

We just need a general Plan B as well as more personnel. This is the same turgid crap we saw last season; I'd have hoped we'd have seen something different from a manager needing to impress in the first three months to keep his job basically.
Our passing was much faster and we even created a few chances. This is a decent side and we've been by far the better team.

I agree there's a lot of similarities with last season but Barry has been very good which he rarely was. Cleverly and McCarthy have also done well and Mirallas before he was injured looked really dangerous. Plus the defense has been very strong.

Add a player like Shaqiri into that team (it will be interesting if Rooney gets more than 5 mins) and we would be a decent force if our first teamers are fit.

The thing I see we are missing from Martinezs first season is 4 or 5 players in the opposition box when we are near the box. Now we seem to be around the box but not in it. I think that Chelsea game at goodison changed our style a bit. We used to be Cavalier and now we are afraid.

....the view that Kone doesn't provide sufficient back up to Lukaku is fully justified but my main concern is that we continue to offer no threat in the top third of the pitch. It was the same last season, no penetration, no pace, no creativity. Last season we had to go a goal down to get any momentum, the situation needs to be addressed.

It was only the first 10 I didn't see but maybe I missed the chances could you talk me through one, did their keeper have to work?

I misread your first post, but we've still knocked it about well. Not disagreeing Kone is making things difficult for us, Lukaku up front would help us maitain attackers, therefore create more chances.

Ball gets flicked onto the penalty spot, he's the nearest CB to it - ergo he should be there if Jagielka isn't. He was nearest and late on the scene. His mistake.

Look, it's not like the lad has been brilliant before this at corners and free kicks like is it?!
Look at every corner we've defended under Martinez - CB's defend zonally, rest man-mark. Stones' zone was clear, Osman lost his man. I'm not a fan of this approach at all, but it's how Boberto likes to play it, so yes, it wasn't Stones' fault.

It wasn't though mate. We were playing with a quicker tempo in the middle third and were moving the ball nicely.
With Lukaku up top we'd have had some end product too.

Man, they were playing that Baker Street tune at Everton when I first started going, about 30 years ago. It always reminds me of Everton when I hear that tune.
