I think you're massively underrating him. His record this season is a goal every 180 minutes. He'd start for most, if not all, of the bottom 10 clubs imo. He's currently starting for the team occupying 8th place in the league, who are chasing a place in Europe.
Your comment above reads like he's one of the crappest strikers in the league, and that we would be better off and willing to swap him with any other premier league striker. I disagree. Who are all these bottom half strikers that would supposedly be an upgrade on Beto? There should be plenty of them if he's only good enough to start for one or two of the 20 premier league teams?
Tis a game of opinions. You may rate him, I do not. If -for the sake of argument- there were ten games to go and he were available on a free, would the likes of Leeds or Forest or Spurs or Burnley or Wolves be falling over themselves to snap him up? Personally I just dont see it.
He's in a purple patch, long may it continue, he's bagging a few goals, he works hard, very likeable guy etc etc - all of which is great, I'm just saying I see zero level of quality there. For me, if anything, its an incredible testament to
Moyes and the team that we are where we are after 32 games when our only striker options are Beto and Barry.
I want us to have a top class No9 banging in ~25 goals a season that every club in Europe wants to get their mits on, not picking between one substandard stiker or the other IMO. I'm pleased for Beto, I'm just nowhere near convinced he's even close to Prem quality that the teams around us who we want to surpass would give him the time of day, yet we do. In short: I don't think this club moves forward with Bet or Barry as the leading striker options.
