2025/26 Beto

We definitely need three strikers next season, especially if we finish in a European position.

It would be a huge gamble if one of those is Barry, given the displays he's put in this season.

We also need a different kind of striker brought in, as these two are much of a muchness.

Sell Barry, extend Beto two years plus option for a third, bring two new strikers, both with different skillsets.

Heres the dilemma, you extend Beto and he'll be 29 over the course of next season. Resale value will be plummeting.

I think we dont have much choice that we need to sell him or extend 4 years and basically write off his value.

If we could bring in £20mil for him then i think we dont have too much choice.

Oh aye I'd definitely accept a sale at that kind of value, but as you said about Barry, I don't think we will see an offer come in at that level.

At this point rather write off a large portion of Barry's fee than write off Beto's value at the end of his time here.

I think it's clear to see Beto is much more liked within the squad, amongst the fans, causes defenders more trouble and is a better all-round player.

Beto is more liked as a person sure.

But I can 100% see players getting super frustrated with his playing ability in-game when the possession is lost and turned over when played up to him.

We should be selling him on tbh and recouping what we can.

Probably Barry too if he cant fit in.

Daunting but if we're gonna challenge top end of table we need far better upfront

…the reality of football is different from your computer games, where you can probably move players around from club to club.

In the real world, players can only move if they agree to move. You might not have the option of simply transferring a player with 12 months left on his contract if he doesn’t want to move. Alternatively, he might not sign a new contract if he doesn’t want to stay.

The market isn’t straightforward, it’s a complicated process just as playing football is. A new player doesn’t automatically transition into a team without being good enough to do so, if only it was all so simple.

Do wonder how many goals he'd be on if we'd given him Barry's minutes. A goal every 180 minutes in the prem is great going
Gotta take it in context: we've seen enough of him to know every now and then he bundles in a couple of goals, but let's not get carried away, he's a million miles from being anything special. Like the previous tinpot No9 we clung on to for almost a decade: needs a hundred chances from two yards out before bagging one.

Timing is everything and if its just another purple patch at the right time of the season, no prob; but ask yourself honestly: would any other team in the Premier League play this guy week in week out as first choice striker? I think you'd be hard pushed to find more than 1 or 2.

I don't know about that mate. Beto would start a game because Barry had been gash the previous games. Barry would then come in because Beto had been gash. To be honest both our strikers are a bit gash so it's a toss of a coin.

Very fair point mate. I just always think he's more likely to make stuff happen. Don't know if the stats back it up, but I always think we look like we're going to score more goals when he's on the pitch

Don't think he's anything special but in my opinion we're a more threatening team with him on the pitch. Think centre halves always know they've been a game with him.
