2025/26 Beto

Attitude, power, physicality, character, workrate, heading: Beto wins hands down. They're probably similar in finishing ability.

Barry needs shipping, but Beto will be sold. He's been treated terribly.
I’d let him run his contract down and play next year. But if he is still scoring next year, give him a year extension, he’d probably take it. If not, he can negotiate a good package elsewhere.

I know everyone is obsessed nowadays with not letting players go on a free, but when the likely resale isn’t massive I see it being a viable option (only in specific cases usually with ageing players).

Giving players contracts you don’t really want them to see out, just so you can sell them has its risks, if you can’t sell them!!!! I don’t think for a second he would, but if he fell out of favour he could sit at FF for a couple of years taking the money and refuse approaches from other clubs. Or suddenly fall of a cliff in terms of pace and fitness.

Losing out on a small sale fee has to be balanced against contractually committing to X years more salary for a player that is probably only going to get worse.

Fantastic finish yesterday. Don’t see many like that these days weirdly. Gutted he wasn’t match winner, and he looked proper annoyed we threw it away.

Been giving emotional support as well. Maybe tell him to 'just shoot' next time (if he hadn't said it after Brentford already)
I chuckled at this part "...while lifting the lid on his own goal that he believes was one of his best."

I only want him sold if Barry is sold too. Otherwise I'm too fearful we'll see far too much Barry next season. Personally think he'd be a great squad option next season, Beto. Guess it might depend what offers come in for him and if we can get anywhere near our money back.
