The only thing that can be done is to send them to prison. You CANNOT revoke their citizenship.

I genuinely wonder how many people would be so up for leaving her there if she was Sally from York. A Brit is a Brit despite their life choices.

I wonder how many people would be up for bringing her back, if it was helga of polish extraction who had gone to help a far right organisation chop off the heads etc of a few ethnic types.

Yeh, she is guilty by association, nothing more imo. It's weird.
Yeah but it's an association with an horrific terrorist organization that she volunteered to be part of, she's mentally weak enough to have been brainwashed to go over via the internet, but after 4 years actually living with them we feel she is now safe to bring back because she's had enough now her evil falla's dead?

Anyone that easily swayed to a life where be-headings are normal is not someone we should ever trust imo.

She didn't go there for the scenery, she went and joined Isis, watch her videos, it's more than just association, she hasn't got a third removed cousin out there or something, she left England to join them and did so, they got their butts kicked, now she wants back into England.

What am I missing regarding 4 A) (b) here? Doesn't that say he can keep her out because she joined a terrorist organization?
I think this is the likely grounds that the Home Office are relying on, but, it is only applicable in instances where the person doesn't become stateless. They need to satisfy conditions that she is either a Bangladeshi citizen or has reasonable grounds for becoming one.

Interestingly, the move to deny her UK citizenship has come before the Bangladeshi government declared they wouldn't take her (although she may have an automatic claim by her mother) so it may be the British jumped first knowing she could claim dual nationality, then the Bangladeshi government has effectively made her stateless. But see the Pham case, which is similar, in so much as the court upheld the deprivation of citizenship as legal, even while Vietnam didn't acknowledge citizenship. In this instance the UK could argue that it doesn't matter if they deprive her of citizenship as she has automatic Bangladeshi citizenship (even though though don't aconite acknowledge it).

There is also another case Zambrano, that may also be persuasive in this instance as it concerns carers of UK citizens, which she may be categorised as through the child. It's a very complex area of law and one which is relatively new in respect of increased Home Secretary powers. It will definitely be contested in UK courts.

And aside from whatever feelings you might have on either side of the debate here (and I have very little sympathy for her), I'm not sure this is a terribly good law to be enforcing or setting a precedent for.

Did Ms Begum actually HELP cut off heads? There are about 10,000 western IS brides, did they all help cut of heads? Britain first fake news stuff going on here.

Part of the difficulty is she joined them as a minor. And, you can't revoke the rights of people you don't like just because you don't like them.

Otherwise the government could quite feasibly deny citizenship rights to anyone they deem criminal.
I have no interest in her personally-it is what she represents in my mind that I object to. I have no issue with any religion or people but I do object to people who knowingly associate with an organisation that committ mass murder

At 15, I feel she was too young to be accountable I am afraid. I have 14 and 16 year old kids they do stupid things. When I was in my teens I was an absolute nightmare and in court all the time. If i was still to be judged upon those days I would not be welcome in many environments I now enjoy. Lucky for me, British law has let it go and I no longer have to answer for those crimes. Same for her I feel.

Interesting that the new Counter-Terrorism and Border Security Act makes a specific law against traveling to designated areas which would be applicable in future instances, but cannot be retrospectively applied.

I'd also note the UK widened the counter terrorism strategy Prevent’s remit to cover the rehabilitation and disengagement of those already involved in terrorism, which would apply in this instance.

@bol-uk is either bevvied, on the wind up or one of the most deluded and dangerous minded liberal cranks I’ve come across in a while .

I hear you but, I just think it is all a bit Britain first, I am playing devils advocate to an extent but generally mean what I have said.

She was a kid, she is British, she will be home. I feel the hate is heightened by her colour/religion.

Yeh, which makes it even weirder Javid saying what he said. It is as if he has missed/ignored the actual law.
