if you picked a squad of the best players we've had under Moyes then without a doubt we'd be top 4

Not even including players who are ritired or past it now... If moyes could just bring back what he's lost to this squad we'd be challanging right near the top IMO.

Bring back lescott arteta Donovan and Rooney to this years squad and I'd be confident of a title challange!

Cahill (yes our style has moved on since his best days but there's no denying him a place)

Ossie might have to settle for a place on the bench to accommodate a more appropriate player up front - close call - I might pick The Yak at his best. Pertinent to this question is that - in the absence of those players above who have moved on - we can call on Gibson, Mirallas, Jelavic and Distin as present day replacements which fills me with great confidence in the present squad.

Martyn had one wonderful season for us but was poor in the ones on either side.

For me that's enough but Howard has been largely more consistent if not up to Martyn at his best.

Best under Moyes not necessarily best players. Howard has had 6 generally very good seasons under Moyes.

This is a what if thread. So to any issues of 'that team wouldn't work' or 'Martyn was only good for one season' or anything, this is a team based on each player at their very best for us.

Hard to choose this though, the likes of Distin, Carsley, Graveson and even Saha have a case to make.
